Here's a progress report fresh from the Digital Hills.
This is the table that Jack built:

This is the track that sits on the table that Jack built:

This is the RECESSED track that sits on the table that Jack built.
Monte cut, hacked and jigsawed pieces as best he could to give the track a recessed appearance.

More as it occurs.
Do you think they would be bright enough to provide sufficient light? George, we need a demo! With pictures.
I only have one thing to say:
I beat Bill!
I beat Bill!
Ok, that's like two things...
Thanks to the Stumman's for hosting a fun night. I know Victoria really liked the Ninco Karts. That was her speed. In fact she was even able to stay on the lead lap in all the lanes except that tricky yellow lane. As for the Saleens, well that's another story.
(in all fairness to Bill, I had run the track before, he hadn't)

I would like to start a class of Gran Prix cars encompassing all the years from 1950 - 1969. You can go here to find lists of what those cars would be:
Gran Prix cars since 1950
The real problem comes in finding suitable cars or donor bodies so I thought a list of potential candidates might be in order. Let me know what you find or have and we'll add it to the list and see if this is indeed possible.
Thanks!
Hey all, the next NASTE Thursday night is scheduled for Dec. 4th at my place. We're going to try to tape some of the Autumn Hills track with copper tape and in between we'll be racing on the digital track. Doors open at 6pm. Come on out and join the fun. Contact me if you need directions.
One of the problems with everyone building their own cars is that we run three different scales and it is unrealistic to expect that everyone will want to spend the dollars to be competitive in every scale and style. And that's just NASTE. Decisions have to be made. In fact, the one time last year that we allowed racers to run their own cars, we had two other cars show up. I suppose if the class were clearly defined so that we ran one of each scale car for a season it wouldn't be so bad. But if we allow open mods then the car builders have a distinct advantage over those that just want to race. Once again, decisions have to be made.
So Larry, how many of these "vintage" cars can you supply for us to race? And personally, yes, I'd pay a REASONABLE price. See, I got this 36D motor...
Spoken like a pair of 'mooks with borrowed cars... I'll fix you, my pretties, just you wait.
Yes, that was fun. I especially liked the guitar stuff! That Bryan is full of surprises. And yes, you're all invited out for the 4th. We'll do track taping on the Autumn Hills track. I have enough copper tape for all of us. And you can also entertain yourselves with the digital track which will accommodate 6 madcap racers at a time. Insane! I'll hope to have end boards in place by then. My poor water heater...
No, that is Jeff's new permanent track. They just got it completed in time for the traditional Halloween race.
I'm for moving to a roving Thursday night. We've got enough home tracks around that we could do something just for fun with some regularity. Who's in?
Yes, very similar in that regard. There's a trigger for speed and a button on the top of the controller for lane changing. It's pretty easy to get the hang of actually. There's also a slow-moving safety car that you can put on the track that runs by itself so you can have a little interference.
The new table has been completed and the digital track has been moved to the garage. A big thanks to Jack for all his support in the table process. So... let's race!
Hooray for y'all. Great job. Where's the pictures?
Sure, works for me. I vote for the race, not so sure about the mascot.
With a system that looks a lot like Scorpius but is more a fact of two companies developing systems using similar technology, Slot.It announces Qxigen:
Oxigen Digital from Slot.It
Here's one they are developing in Australia that uses wireless bluetooth to manage the system.
Scorpius Digital System
We've got an SCX digital system here at the house of about 60 ft. It will soon be moving to the garage for a more permanent setup, thanks to Jack Attack. He spent an entire day here putting a table together and with a few more hours we'll have it completed. It will be capable of running up to 6 cars simultaneously or 5 cars and the safety car.
One nice thing about digital is that you don't have to worry about lane colors since any lane will do.
If you've got a digital track at home, tell us what you have and let's get this digital revolution going.
Yes, let's see some pictures. What about 1/32 scale?
Yes, you want to be there. Last time Bob helped me build a killer chassis. I've got two more bodies that need a chassis, looking forward to it!
We'll be there tonight to battle it out to the finish but I think Bryan will be absent. He'll still have a score of 158 that none of us can reach.
Only when I could keep it runnin'
That was a great start to the season. And even though there were some minor issues I think they were dealt with most fairly. I also really liked the IROC controllers. That made it feel like a really even playing field. And even though I still got beat by the top dogs, I felt better about it. Heck I was only .2 laps behind Bill. I musta been flying!
