Actually that would make it a cheap Dirt Phone.............
Race results from the August 1st Odd Thursday Night Race:
Sorry I won't be able to make it Zack.
Fantastic racing last night at Al's Rippin' Ridin' Raceway! Although I only stuck around for one race I had a great time! I was totally unprepared to race but Zack loaned me his F1 Polycar and controller to compete in the F1 race. I gotta say Zack is the man to beat in this class! His car handles beautifully! Nice job Zack and thanks for lending me your equipment!
The racing in the F1 class was extremely close, except for Zack killing us for the win! Here's the results from the night of racing:

Hi DC,
Sorry about the delayed response. Diane and I were away for a spur of the moment road trip and just got back this evening. I have the track cleared off and it is operational. Friday the 26th would probably work. Just give me a call if you want to stop by! ======Bill
I'll echo what Stan said, it was a great time at Al's last night! The other part of his post that caught my attention was "Zack Speed". How appropriate!
I'm gonna try something a little different for posting the results this morning. Mostly because i'm old and lazy!
The best way to get ahold of Mike is through an instant message on Facebook.
If you search for Mike Lombardi on Facebook he'll pop up. He is the Nike guy.
Mike's a great guy! I told him you were interested Zack.
GUYS, Mike has dropped the price of his cars to $20 a piece!!! These are AWESOME deals! Take a look at what he has to sell!!!!

Have to see what she does on the wood..

Then there is the Scalextric D type. Several of us has fooled around with these cars, I'm not sure if anyone has had much success with one. I've made this one smooth but it just suffers badly in high speed turns. It's a good looking car though.
This is Fly's 250GTO It's wheels have a 5mm rib on the front wheels and a 6mm rib on the rear. This severely reduces tire choices that look right with the car. It also has independent front axles that are very wobbly.

This Monogram also suffers with a 24K motor with no brakes

This Auto Art C type runs okay, narrowness is the biggest issue. I've swapped out the motor but the rest of it is too pretty to mess with.

This is Scalextric's version of a front motored XKE. Though they look so similar to the Ninco car I am unable to get it to rum nearly as smooth.

The MRRC Cobra can be made to run decent but this one had to have all of the moving parts replaced with an aftermarket piece of one brand or another. This one came with a 30K motor and oval wheels

Of the other cars the Ninco XKE is the smoothest and most tunable but it's narrowness cost it heavily in the corners

I think this monogram can be made to run very well, the stock motor turns about 24K and has no brakes. A black stripe motor would fix that.

Of the front motored cars I've fooled with the L88 will probably dominate a front motored class just like the GT40 did the Sports Car Class. This white one with just the magnet replaced with lead and urethane tires can run in the 6.9s with it's Scaley parts.

The one I have in the grand sport feels on par to what 18k black strip. But have not run it side by side with one. But don't feel any faster. Those mrrc cobra have some very hot motors in them I believe.so those may need a motor swap just be driveable.

I did a little checking this morning to see what I have available. I do have cars that would fit this class. Here's a list of what I KNOW I have available:
Revell/Monogram - Cobra Daytona GT Coupes = YES
Grand Sport Corvettes = YES
Greenwood Corvettes = YES
Jaguar E-Type = 1
Shelby Mustang GT350R = YES
Scalextric - L88 Corvette w/hardtop = YES
L88 Corvette convertible = YES
At this point in time I have not yet inventoried the Scalextric cars so I do not know what I have available in that brand. I do however know I have the L88 Corvettes! If you guys decide to move forward with this class I am willing to sell any of the cars listed above for $20 a piece to support the new class. This is the "racer price" to NASTE Odd Thursday Night racers. I may have other eligible Scalextric cars, but until I complete the inventory I won't know for sure. I may have two or three Fly Ferrari 250 GTOs but I would need more than $20 for them. I no longer have any Revell Porsche 550 Spyders for sale, they're all sold or spoken for.
One question I have in regards to this new class is, how do the Revell/Monogram motors compare to the Scalextric's performance-wise?

I like it Doc!! With the stash Bill has of MonVellRevoGrams, we should be able to field a wide spectrum of cars... very inexpensively!
Require stock wheels?
Also maybe include a definition of "front engine" as seen on the forums of having an intermediate driveshaft between the motor and the pinion?
That is the type of front
Motor chassis cars was suggesting. Thinking no on aftermarket wheels for now.trying to keep it a low cost class. Will address that 8f guys are have issues with stock running gear.only thing I found is that you have to super glue the intermediate shaft bushing in the chasdis

I'm impressed at wow well these grand sport ran after a few adjustments to the stance of the car. I was thinking of going with a 3d chassis and pod set up. but might just leave as is.. with that said, I wonder why we don't have a class for classic sport car front engine? say 1955 to 1975 years
keep it simple and cheap
must run stock chassis and running gear plastic pinon can be changed if split
chassis can be trimmed for float
body post can be trimmed down for stance
