I hear ya Chris, I visit a few interesting pages and keep up with some far flung relatives but the rest is pretty much just crap.
Lots of crap out there yep, but the vids of the race and track look great. Definitely need to get over there one day.

Chris, I posted photos and videos on HRWs facebook page and Slot racing old schools page, Also NW truescale's page.
This site won't let me post videos and only 1 photo at a time.
Ah, FB. The derby was the only thing pushing me to that site. I am back to spending very little time on it, and I haven't missed it. I'll go look though, just for you!
So a whole bunch of people had a great time racing on a super cool track and no one has posted any pics? Kinda makes me think it might not have happened.
XOXO,
the Koub
Hurry up. I'm ready
Hell yeah, me too!
Here comes the next headache for you....
If you just de-shimmed the 180° corner, do you need to de-shim the entrance to the new section from the bridge? Looking at the pics, it does seem to have a bank into the corner which is no longer there- actually it's now going the opposite way. You may want to think about that now instead of later....
You're welcome!
I see enough political crap elsewhere. Let's keep it out of here please.
I'd be interested, but have no cars for the races.
That makes two of us Stan. Solidify dates and I'll try to make it work if there are loaners available.

Chris,
I had to go watch this video. I found it......informing.
Oh yeah, I watched it too- well, some of it. He just seemed so happy and caffeinated right out of the blocks that he seemed more like a cartoon character than anything else. Clearly knows what's going on with modeling though...
This guy is WAY too excited about fake grass!

Oh, that was sarcasm. I had to think about it for a minute.
Winner winner, chicken dinner!!!
I think what that car needs is a little more rubber on the rear wheels.
If we ever get free to congregate, let me know, I'd be glad to help.
You're on(!), but full disclosure- your pay will suck and your boss will be a dork.
I will admit to underestimating this thing a bit but this has certainly made me feel better about not racing lately:

I think it's the right thing to put this all on pause for a while.
Chris,
time to build?
It has been for a while, even before I gave the old one away. It's on the "list of things to do" but has a hard time getting to the top. If this continues a while longer, it may get there though.
My track is all buttoned up because we had prepared for the renovation of the shop into a game room/Airbnb 2nd unit, so I can't run anything, and I have no workshop space in the house.
At least you still have your track... I gave mine away!
Truly missing it now.
The last set of points I adjusted were in my '52 Chevy, and I eventually went electronic in that making it...Pointless.
OMG, you stealth-punned me, and it was brutally fantastic!! Well played sir! Much respect.
Just 'cause I'm feeling in a giving mood, here are some points for Mitch:
Happy Monday everyone!
Too Much Info
Yeah, what Rico said.
Never thought I'd have to say this but... Try not to over-think it Bill.
I am wondering about Al, hoping his off night was just an off night... All is normal around Casa Kouba though- ignoring the yard and basically any adult responsibilities. Walking with the wife and dog, binging through some TV shows, building a SpecKart for the (likely to be cancelled) event at Maryhill in April, working on the boat, monkeying with the truck, and actually driving the GT a little bit too!
My commute has been fantastic lately though. So I've got that going for me... which is nice.
Hope all is well around everybody else's campfires.
I think a little fun is what everyone needs in the middle of all this. I might even show up. See if you have fun now!
Last call.... If you are interested in running a car down the hill this year, this is "last call" to express interest. I am to the point of needing to commit my energies or move on to the other projects I am presently juggling.
There is the fleet of streamliners in which one may (or may not) fit that are available, and there is the as of yet still under construction SpecKart which I am building for those with a distaste for claustrophobia. Pics and propaganda for them are here:

If you are interested in fielding a team, I am happy to provide hardware support. Time is running out to get organized and registered. Reply here by the end of the week (3/14) if you're interested.
Chris
Upon further reflection, I would like to stay true to the original intent of the era-based buckets and say that a fleet of Can Am cars competing together in PGE is consistent with those objectives. I don't see a need to alter the rules as they were originally drafted.
The only change I might consider is bringing the 1968 start date back to 1965. That year (1968) was originally selected because that's where the Classics class used to cut off, but that has now moved to 1964. It might add an interesting car or two into the mix- the Cobra, GT350 Mustang, earlier Corvette, 250 GTO, 250 LM, 365, 330, etc... so I will still propose it here. Any thoughts? Any objections?
Chris
Because I keep going back to read them, here are the rules currently:
"Class 15 - Sportscar Era Class - Pre-Ground Effect (PGE)
Pre-Ground Effect (PGE) Era - Full-fendered sportscars from 1968 through 1980 which ran in FIA, IMSA, or SCCA sanctioned events. Any motors (22k limit), tires, driveline configuration, or chassis material may be used. Bodies must be injection molded or resin cast and not vacuum molded. Thunderslot brand RTR cars are NOT eligible for this class, but their driveline components (wheels, axles, gears, tires) and guide assembly may be used for tuning"
From our rules page: http://www.naste.org/racerules.cfm
I don't really have a strong opinion on this. We split the eras up based on club feedback, not anything I personally wanted. I am happy to support group consensus again, but the intent was to have era compatible cars on track with each other. It seems like that is happening, despite the same cars having a class in which to play by themselves.

I was over there hanging some wall art (technically, ceiling art) and coincidentally brought some cars as well. All of them were running on either Scaleauto or BRM foams, with the one exception of the BRM Trans Am Mustang. Despite the foams not being very fresh (they are mostly from the 24h events in Tacoma, so you can tell how stale they may be), all the cars were enjoyable to run and would be very entertaining to run together.
I think working in some 1/24 racing for the BRM and Scaleauto owners out there would be very welcome. I know I'd support it.
Yeah, thought about that. Might be a decent compromise for the situation. I don't intend to require roofs for the other two divisions as I want a space for the Audi TDi's and similar cars to run.
