Ok, toward the thought of different brands, I think we'll aim for something like this:

GT Class
Any sort of a GT car (coupe - ie. car with a hard top) with a max motor limit of 22k, no-mag.  This could be a car from one of the following manufacturers:
Ninco
SCX
Scalextric
Carrera

Let's leave out Slot.It and NSR or that's what we'll be running.

OR

Revell/Monogram Class
Open to any stock Mono/Revell car with upgrades allowed to tires, maybe a few others, no-mag.  I figure we all have some of these sitting around.

OR

CanAm Class
Any CanAm car with 20K motor limit.  No Slot.It.

Who's got a preference?  I know I've got a few GT cars that could use some track time.  My Revell-o-gram's have hardly ever been run.  I'm sure I've got a few CanAm cars that could use a run too.

Any other thoughts?  We'll switch after June.

Both the food and the racing were great.  We have a wonderful time, thanks again!

I know Scaley track will eventually show power loss through the track joints.  We usually figure about every 10-12 pieces you might want to have a jumper for the analog track but Flip can tell you better than I.

We'll see if we can't find another date.

An enthusiastic group of 10 racers came out today for a rousing afternoon of racing.  At the start we announced the new points system.  It is:

per heat:
1st - 3 pts.
2nd - 2 pts.
3rd - 1 pt.

And each driver receives an extra point per lap.  This helps reward those that turn more laps.

The big surprise of the day was the excellent performance turned in by Art!  I heard some rumors that his motor might have had a little extra oomph and perhaps his down force was out of spec but when you get to be that age I think you are entitled to a few luxuries.  Rico lost a number of points when he had controller issues and forgot we were scoring points for laps too.  He'll get them back.  And to top it off, we had Terry and his grand kids Aiden and Devyn all going toe to toe.  It was great fun watching them battle it out.

Here now the results:

Monte - 102
Art - 101
Greg "Greeman" - 94
Rico - 90
Victoria - 81
Dennis - 79
Aiden - 79
Jimmy - 75
Devyn - 71
Terry - 68

I got a call from Tony and he's working with the Red Devil guys to put on a race in April at Fantasy World using the NSR Classics.  Those are:

Porsche 917
Ford P68
Ford GT
Ford GT Mk IV

Since I know some of us already have these cars, who's interested in attending?  The dates that I heard were either April 9th or April 23rd.

Hard to tell, I may need to put out some bait.

Next time we'll run the NASCAR's.  You'll be able to hit them from three lanes away.

Yes, with the extra track I got from Blair I was able to do things like replace half-straights with full straight sections as well as add in 4 extra cross-over sections.  It makes for a better flow.  The ones at each end of the main straight, the one around the back side of the S going under the bridge and one more to smooth up the entry to the pit lane in the home stretch portion.

Thanks to all the folks that came out to have a wild and crazy time on the digital track.  I hope everyone had a good time.  I know I sure enjoyed standing back and watching.  With 17 racers in attendance we had plenty of drivers to fill out the teams.  I'm considering having a 4 hour version just for fun this summer when we can open the garage door making it a little easier to get around the track.  More on that later...

The rally track also seemed to be a hit.  Every time I looked over there someone was on it.

I'd also like to thank the HandyMen.  My sliding glass door SLIDES!  Rico, Catrinus, Jeff, Bill, all that had a hand in there, it was really appreciated.

There's even a few of those little cakes of Dorothy's left.  Yum!

I keep annoying them as best I can but that's about the best that I can do.  Considering other methods.

Nah, it's a keeper.  And I really appreciate all the work that went into it.

See you in the 23rd of April.

Howie, that's hysterical.  That's like the second recent incident.  Don't forget, things happen in threes.

Ok, gang.  We're just about half way through the Ninco season as scheduled so it's time to consider the next class that we'll run from July through December.  Here's what we've already run:

Fly Classics
Italian Stallion Shootout - Slot. It, Racer, NSR
Ninco NC5 Coupes

I've been thinking about either a classic F1 with lower powered motors or an LMP series.  I know with the tight layout at the Pen that NASCAR's would be fun too.  We'd have lots of side action with those.  What other classes sound like fun?

It was a great crowd and another fun day of playing with the cars.  Seventeen racers came out to try their luck in our March first Sunday series.  Thanks to you all, we sure had a good time.

Once again Rico had the car to beat and the skill to make it even harder.  Tied with Rico for top honors on the day was AJ.  They just squeaked by Flying Bryan and all of them seemed to have more can than I did.  Once again, the cars held up pretty well.  I think we tossed a tire or two and had a motor pop loose.

There was also some good food going on.  Victoria made some excellent Chili and Tim brought a pot of Chicken soup.  How were the cup cakes?  Apparently there is a penalty for score keeping.  hmm

Here now the results:

Rico Locati:  28
AJ Locati:  28
Bryan Trachsel:  26
Monte "Big Smooth":  24
Gary Smith:  22
Bill Bostic:  20
Greg "Greenman" Petrolati:  18
Beau Frazier:  18
Dave Smith:  18
Victoria "Zen Racer":  16
Dominic "Birthday Boy" Locati:  16
Aiden:  14
Jimmy Jones:  14
Tim "Timba"  Booze:  12
Mike Lombardi:  12
Terry:  10
Jill:  10

Easy-bake...  harsh.

About 8:30 should do.  It's about two hours drive from there.

We're planning to drive up too.  Shall we meet at the old same place?

Thanks Rico, that was a great race and a fun night.  I always enjoy running around the Hills and once again I was reminded how much I miss
"night" racing.  Personally, I couldn't have eaten any more.  Hats off to Kelly, those sausages were wonderful.
