Wasn't it PT Barnum who said there's a sucker born every minute?  EBay must have a magnetic pull on them.

What would not be fair is to not count points for those who host races.  Why penalize someone who takes the time and effort to host a race? Some people are generous to host multiple races while others host none, so with this logic it would be better point wise to not host let alone doing it more than once.  The new rules will negate the issue to a certain extent in that the expert class are the only ones racing for points so the intermediate and novice classes are not affected by the host performing well.  If there are fewer points races next year as has been indicated, not receiving points at any race will be an even larger penalty. Besides most of the experts are more than capable of winning on any track on a given night.

Hopefully not an HO track.

Millions?  Oh yes, putting on a race is quite the money making opportunity.  We should get Bernie involved.

I agree, very fun and easy to run.

WOW, what a great night of racing and we didn't even make it to the BRM class.  Very close racing through out, sometimes a little too close Mr. Fisher! The Beast Vette has it's eyes on you :-).  Thank you Bill and Diane for the hospitality as always.

Rico

Thanks for the lesson Monte, here is an image of the the book:

There is some evidence that the guy in that picture is the legendary Bob Braverman- journalist, motorcycle and drag racer, modeler and slot car  enthusiast.

It turns out Kal Kar made wood track sections as well

They are pretty close to the originals to me

I picked up another vintage car today.  It's a vintage Kal Kar Ready to Run car which according to the LA Slot Car Museum is a fairly rare car.  The paint job is factory and definitely not the correct color for the 1:1 car but correct in this instance. It's in pretty decent condition with just a few cracks in the rear panel. The funky baby blue tires may be stock as well.

And the $20.00 price was certainly a bargain.

Rico Locati brought out his vintage Corvair for a few parade laps.

And it ran surprisingly well.

Da Goose certainly showed us the fast way around Too Bad last night but I was rather handicapped and even more disturbing he told me he dreams of beating the disabled (me) on a regular basis and that he wakes up happy.  I think it's just plain wrong big_smile  That being said I had fun last night despite my condition, thank you Bill and Diane for hosting these regular races and to all those who brought snacks.

A big thank you to Monte and Victoria for their hospitality and generosity in hosting these 1st Sunday races.  As per usual I ate way to much, thanks to all who contributed.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself visiting and of course the racing too.  Dominic had fun too and can't wait for the next time he can race.

Rico

I bought another Garvic earlier today at a collector mart and yes the price tag is what I paid.

That's the only way he can keep up cuz he's old and retired or he could just cheat. Oh wait, that didn't work out so well either big_smile

And why shouldn't we be using vintage controllers?  It seems a little silly to be using a controller that costs more than 10x the cost of the car when new.

I vote you to give it a try next time.  Of course the rest of us won't be right behind you!

What a fantastic night of racing!  Everybody is certainly bringing their "A" game and the racing is the better for it.  Thank you Bill for hosting these events and bringing us all together.  Once again, I'm sorry Goose for busting up the Chaparral, I feel really awful about it.  I just didn't feel the rider and it happened so fast. sad
Already looking forward to the next race.
