After the completion of the Classic NASCAR race ten racers took to the track with their Can Am class cars. I got photos of just a few of the cars.

At the half way point in the Classic NASCAR race Zack had established a two lap lead.

After two rounds of 4 minute heat races, Zack was able to maintain that two lap lead over Craig to take the win.

Northwest True Scale returned to Inslot's Checkered Flag Raceway on November 20th for a Classic NASCAR Race. There were 15 entries for the feature NASCAR race, and 10 entries for the Can Am follow up race.

In the days preceding the race, the track racing surface and braid was cleaned. The track was sprayed with a light coating of glue (traction compound mixed with Naptha) to prep the track the race the night before. The interesting thing about prepping a track with this method is that when the Naptha evaporates out of the mixture (which it does quickly) it leaves the glue compound almost totally dry on the track surface.

This is what the track looked like after spraying.

We were cramped for space but everyone seemed to make due.

In the Womp race I had 12 points, you and Dave both had 11. You took second by having the best average lap time. Rob was fourth with 6 points.

Yes, I believe I even bumped the break out penalty at least once. The track was really hooked up!

Today was mostly testing and tuning, but we did get in one Womp race. I was able to get my first fence post!

Doc, I found something for you!

Springwater Raceway can take its toll on equipment! Tom's car suffered some damage but fortunately in was late in the race and did not keep him from finishing.

Ya gotta love a guy that brings a knife to a gun fight!

I'm really enjoying the Open Track Mondays! We don't usually get a big turn out at any one race, but it does seem to give a lot of my friends a chance to stop by, check in, and get in a little racing. It's not always the same group and I get to see a lot of different friends.

Yesterday we got in some testing and tuning for the upcoming OSCAR Trans Am race at Springwater Raceway this Saturday. We also held a Womp race and a Flexi race, each with 7 entries.

Womp race results:

1st John
2nd Doc
3rd Dave
4th Stuart
5th Beau
6th Bill
7th Mitch

In the end it was John Gill with a clean sweep for the day adding two fence posts to his signature on the prestigious PASER WEENER CUP! Nicely done John!

So I was checking over my Classic NASCAR this morning and found an issue. During the later part of the race my motor started stinking and going away (I know, hard to believe from my old Parma green endbell motor, huh?!). Anyway, I found my front axle was bound up and one wheel would hardly turn. My front axle tube was slightly bent, something not unknown to happen at Springwater Raceway! I had added a Billy Bar to reinforce my front axle tube, and although it did not completely prevent the front axle tube from bending, I do believe it kept the front axle tube from breaking off completely, or bending to a point where it could not be easily straightened out. I was able to repair it with just a little tweaking using the axle as a pry bar. We'll see how it holds up in future races!....I wonder if I really need a new motor?...........Ah, it's probably OK..........

The racing was close and most of all fun!

I can do that Doc. I'll email Howie now.

We certainly could! The only reason we aren't racing hard body cars on Mondays is because not everyone has them. The nice thing about the NASTRUCK Howie is selling is the chassis can be used in multiple classes. I could see hard body racing on Mondays in preparation for upcoming races!

Inslot's Checkered Flag is the home track for the PASER Club. PASER was started by Bob McFarland and Lee Dundas with a main focus on scratchbuilt cars. Most all of the guys currently involved with the Monday Open Track Day have scratchbuilt hardbody cars of some sort. The Womps and Flexis are easy classes to get people involved, but I would also like to eventually see hard bodied cars raced here regularly.
