I understand the problem with builders/contractors and this time of year.  I like to find workers via CraigsList or by personal recommendation.  It's always worked well in the past.  The deck replacement, tree and hedge removal, and replacement of all the windows are examples of CL gone well and most likely many dollars saved.  However, we were unable to find a reliable fence builder that both had time and gave us confidence.  We started checking late and most of them were booked well into the fall.  So, we finally tried one of the local pro outfits.  They came by the next day to give us an estimate.  Ten days later the fence was in.

We did spend a few dollars more, I think...  But, we got exactly what we wanted.  Some days price is not the end-all.

I hope you find a builder. that suits your needs.

Or we could just all get together and have a good old fashioned barn raising.  Possibly followed by a good old fashioned barn razing...  Can a building with 4 walls be tougher to design and build than a winning downhill racer?

Living proof...

It's ready to go, I'll bring it tomorrow.

It's here in all it's glory.

No, the way the chassis and the body mount, I had to return it to mount the correct body.  I imagined it would use the same body posts, silly me.

Ok, here's a couple of items for Mad Dog Monday.

The Cobra:

Yes the same King of the Ninco Cobra's that terrorized so many.  Has been returned to original parts.  No motor - fits long can.  Will need to replace the rear drive (cracked rear wheel), glue rear bushings, add a motor and go.

Priced to sell:  $10

Pyramid Power Supply: 6-15V, 30A

The power supply that has been running the Penguin Point three lane track for some years now.  Voltage appears reliable, can not guarantee current for bigger draw motors.

Yours at $15

Thanks.

Yes, I'm just awaiting it's return from a modification.  I expect to see it this week.

A fine afternoon for racing with 15 racers in attendance.  It was great to see George V. and his sons again after some time as well as meeting his friends Chris, Piper and Cricket.  Hopefully they will get a chance to come back.

ok, so what is the goal here again please?

565

Yes.  I think so.  Or weight to power ratio of some sort.

It occurs to me that another aspect we'll want to control is weight.  Since we'll be using lower powered motors the weight of the car can be a significant issue.  A lighter car will get moving quicker.  We'll move from motor wars to weight wars.

The best starting point would be the motor list that we published based on Robert Livingston's testing.  It does not include some of the newer motors since he stopped doing this but is certainly a very useful reference.

Pitiful...  They are spec'd to quite a bit more.

So is there some manor of motor limit or will there still be a power divide?

You should consider hiring help.  Find a younger individual to strain their muscles.  A least you should be happy to know you still have muscles.

Are there rules pertaining to the horn(s)?  I think a set of moose horns would look awesome.
