Here's what we're proposing for the 2018 IROC series. Please review and comment. If you have a track and would be willing to host one of these races, please let me know.

Proposed:

2018 NASTE IROC Driver’s Championship

Purpose
The NASTE IROC race series welcomes newcomers and encourages new slot car enthusiasts to get involved. These entry level races help beginners learn about slot car racing, with minimal investment.

It is also a forum for those who just enjoy driving slot cars and hanging out with friends around a common hobby. NASTE IROC races are family friendly. Kids who can race, get to race.

The NASTE IROC Driver’s Championship also provides an opportunity for experienced slot car drivers to demonstrate their driving expertise on a level playing field. Drivers compete using host-provided cars and controllers. The winning Division 1 driver receives the NASTE Driver’s Cup at the annual Halloween race.

Those interested in owning, building, tuning, racing and competing with their own cars will also enjoy the NASTE Odd Thursday Night Race Series which includes the NASTE Open Championship Series.

Congrats.  Never fault your performance based on the non-participation of others.

Big thanks to Al for hosting the final NASTE race of the 2017 season.  We had a great time.

We'll have some season awards ready at the Halloween race.  Time to discuss next season already.  We'll have a thread on that soon.

Thanks Doc, I did look at those.  I sold a giant stack of those that came with my Carrera track.  Sold them all.  May not have beent the best decision...

Ain't that the truth.

Two more members added to the team - Tony and Ray - both from my last year's team.  Tony's good on those tracks and last year Ray was our butt-kicker.  Good additions.

Chris
Bill
Monte
Stan
Tony
Ray

18 more to go...

When we pass 10 we may want to consider switching to two teams like last year.  My recall is that Chris likes to try and run for about 20 hours.  hmm

No need to fight over our inabilities.  Let's just have fun.  24 straight hours of fun.  Who else wants in?

It would not be unreasonable to take another look at the classes and see how we feel about what they are and what we choose to run in response.

Also how about competition classes for this next season?

Mitch, where's that new track?  I can host a time or two out here but it seems ya'll don't like to drive to Hillsboro on week nights and I can't blame you.

They sold the track for $40?

Monte done got whupped.  Real good.

Congrats gents.

I'm going to consider it.  Anyone else?

Howie, why were the Pattos bodies "unpopular"?

I understand the problem with builders/contractors and this time of year.  I like to find workers via CraigsList or by personal recommendation.  It's always worked well in the past.  The deck replacement, tree and hedge removal, and replacement of all the windows are examples of CL gone well and most likely many dollars saved.  However, we were unable to find a reliable fence builder that both had time and gave us confidence.  We started checking late and most of them were booked well into the fall.  So, we finally tried one of the local pro outfits.  They came by the next day to give us an estimate.  Ten days later the fence was in.

We did spend a few dollars more, I think...  But, we got exactly what we wanted.  Some days price is not the end-all.

I hope you find a builder. that suits your needs.

Or we could just all get together and have a good old fashioned barn raising.  Possibly followed by a good old fashioned barn razing...  Can a building with 4 walls be tougher to design and build than a winning downhill racer?

Living proof...

It's ready to go, I'll bring it tomorrow.

It's here in all it's glory.

No, the way the chassis and the body mount, I had to return it to mount the correct body.  I imagined it would use the same body posts, silly me.

Ok, here's a couple of items for Mad Dog Monday.

The Cobra:

Yes the same King of the Ninco Cobra's that terrorized so many.  Has been returned to original parts.  No motor - fits long can.  Will need to replace the rear drive (cracked rear wheel), glue rear bushings, add a motor and go.

Priced to sell:  $10

Pyramid Power Supply: 6-15V, 30A

The power supply that has been running the Penguin Point three lane track for some years now.  Voltage appears reliable, can not guarantee current for bigger draw motors.

Yours at $15

Contact me directly at montedsaager@gmail.com if interested.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm just awaiting it's return from a modification.  I expect to see it this week.
