"We did discuss at the beginning if the Thunderslots were allowed (along with the NSR's), and we did all say yes."

Lacking a sample size since I don't think we'd even seen one prior to the start of the season this was a poor decision.

I like mine too.  But it's not fair competition to the other cars based on the RTR experience.  That is if fair is important.

I would like to think that the first two races of the evening being run would be made up mostly of similar spec class cars of a reasonable value so that new racers can be attracted at a reasonable rate of expense.  That is if new members are important.

I'm hoping that we find a reasonable solution here but one does need to be found.  Perhaps it's this simple...  leave it in the box until next season.  Or, hand it to a lesser racer and let them taste the glory for one night.

So riddle me this...  Will the car also be legal for Classic Spo's Car Class 2 with a lower powered motor and thin tires?  That would be even more ludicrous than the allowance of the Slot.It Ford GT in that class - an allowance I still do not understand.

Here's my take:

Not knowing what was going on with regard to this car's legality for any class I made my objection known as soon as I saw Greg's car set on the track.  There was no time for discussion.  I came expecting that the Slot.its would be the top dog in this fight.  To my thinking when you introduce a car - not a line of cars - and a single model at that - that can EASILY then run at least one second faster per every lap than the comparative competition you have an issue.  Slap on a $90 price tag and it becomes the same issue we fought against with the Racer/NSR situation.  And it's not like any fabulous tuning was involved.  ;-)  You take the car out of the box, place it on the track and beat the bloody hell out of everyone that is running something else.

I did run my car once in the GT class having heard it had already been allowed.  Think I was second to Chris' TS car.  But no more, the car is retired but I may make it available to anyone that wants to run it in whatever class allows it.  Personally I think it's an unfair advantage.  Akin to having a Difalco controller while your opponents are using non-adjusting Parma's.

Since it comes in two versions, coupe and open top. will they both be legal for, well, just how many classes?  That is, will the open top car be legal for GT and will the coupe be legal for Can Am?  And what other freaking classes?

In the future I suggest the solution is the creation of the Thunderslot class.  It can rotate with the 1:24 classes for the limited amount of racers that have them.  It has no place among the other cars at this point in my opinion.

It's like the appearance of the 917/30.  The car that pretty well destroyed the Can Am series in the first place.

Get one of those and bring it.  Love to see it going around the track.

Super bowl?  Don't care, sorry.

Rico, body - yes, what's the motor?

No.  They are not allowed for the new class.

And she's still a wonderful singer.

Memory really is the last part of  guy to go soft.

Was I there?  What did we race?

Let me give it a little thought.

I think that's fine but we need to have some sort of motor limit since the releases are all over the place with general offerings from SCX, Scaley, Ninco, Team Slot, ScaleAuto, NSR and so forth.  Finally some nights to run the Stratos'!

Or Saturday night...

Yes, I'm going to start a new post with the list of google docs.

No, it doesn't.  Email me.

You can list the link here if you like.  We do the same thing with the motor list.

Bill, use google docs.  It's a simple upload.

Not so sure about that one however there are both adapters for the long can pod and replacement pods for the shorter motor.

And I would say most of the Classics were actually powered by the venerable NC-1.  Only more recently with the loss of the NC-1 did they seem to move to the NC-5 making the cars ludicrously overpowered.  And since the Classics were always a motor holder mounted into the chassis it was an easy adjustment.

I have at least 5 spare NC-1 motors and a few adapters if anyone wants to go that route.  However I think the best choice would be to spec this one:

Jack Rabit Motor 14,000 RPM , Mabuchi type with 2mm double shaft  $9.95

Probably even relatively easy to get.

I'm with Al.  LOL

Anyone want to suggest a rally class?

The easy route is to go with Slot.It for the GT cars and probably Policar for the F1 class only because we can probably count on more cars going forward and parts availability for anything that breaks.

Not the only route, just the easiest.

We could also use a class more in line with the N-N-N-Ninco Classics.  Or inline as they are.

Here's the rules:

Ninco Classics

Stock Ninco Classic with the following allowances:

1.  Rear Tires - BOSA (!) - glued/trued ok
2.  No traction magnets
3.  Weight can be added inside the car
4.  Bushings can be glued
5.  NC-1 or similar motor

Sub-class allows for similar cars from other mfg/scratch-build with similar motor.

Bill...

As I have seen the Policar F1 cars are running basically stock.  Anyone running a different brand that keeps up is not running stock.  They've either bumped up the motor, added weight or both and perhaps more.

I think the Policar F1, Thunderslot, and NSR all deserve their own class.  They are not to the point of overly expensive any longer and if we want to get to where we are running similar competitive cars unlike the wild west style GT and F1 classes then we need to probably look at classes by type AND manufacturer.

We've done this long enough that the best and LEAST EXPENSIVE racing really is similar class cars from the same manufacturer.

This doesn't mean we couldn't have our other classes as well but it wouldn't be unreasonable to have a few stock classes and run one of them each time.  It would certainly be easier on the new folks we hope to attract.

To that end we should add a DTM class using the Carrera DTM's.  Here's my proposed rules:

Carrera DTM

Stock with the following allowances:

1.  Rear Tires - BOSA (!) - glued/trued ok
2.  Traction magnets removed
3.  Braid can be changed/restrung
4.  Digital models can remove the light boards and digital chip *
5.  Weight can be added but you may not need to

* You don't have to buy a digital version.  But, if you do, either save the parts or sell/trade them to me.

The cars retail for under $40 and there are significant liveries so that we all aren't racing the same car.
