Bad Bob and I are thinking about starting a group to run Parma International 32 Vintage Sports/ GT cars running the bodies from this website.. We are going to have a meeting to see how much interest we will have racing something new like this.. These bodies are really nicely detailed and so are the decals that you can get for each car body. Check out the painted bodies in the gallery that are all done up. Please pass this a long to other racers.
I know we have a lot of race groups in our area and a lot of racing else where, but I think this would be a fun class for all scales of racers no matter what scale you race or kind of cars and is a way for all of us to get together and have fun. Very cool and fast cars with the INTERNATIONAL 32 Chassis.. Send feedback to me or Bad Bob we want to here from you.. larry302@viclink.com or rmcfarland@centruytel.net

Check out this sight. Take a look at all of the decals and bodies. Then look at the picture page of completed slot cars.

A couple questions have come up in regards to the 2011 NASTE race schedule. The RPT track is outside and the remaining race dates are Oct & Feb which are both on the colder side. How does everyone feel about adding one more race date to the schedule (possibly late May or early June)?

In addition, would anyone have any objections to scheduling the RPT race for a Wednesday evening instead of the usual Saturday?

Two topics came up at the NASTE BBQ on Sunday Aug. 22 that are open for discussion.

1). Ideas for trophies for next season. One idea is to have a perpetual trophy listing the names, dates, and tracks for each race winner. After each race the winner would take the trophy home, add something to the trophy, and return with the trophy to the next race. The winner of the next race would then take the trophy home, add something to it, and again return it to the next race. At the end of the season the point series champion would get to keep that trophy, in addition to having the NASTE Point Series Championship Trophy with his or her name added to the nameplate.
A trophy building session was also scheduled for Sunday Oct. 3rd to build some trophies for the individual races.

2). The topic of what cars and classes to race also came up. For the past few years the NASTE Point Series Races have all been IROC style races, which has proved to be a successful format when new racers are considered. Racing individual racer owned cars versus IROC style cars, or some combination of the two was briefly discussed, but warrants more discussion.

Thoughts or comments????    ------------------------Bill

Jack, Thanks for hosting the NASTE BBQ!! Your track looks and runs great!!! It was a most excellent time!!   ----------------------Bill

Bring your trade or sell stuff along!!!!

I'll bring some stuff. Anybody looking for anything in particular?   --------------------Bill

You're welcome Rico!   ----------------Bill

I understand your dilema! I'm afraid I may have to own one of the Javelins and Camaros too!!!

Get the notchback twin pack and we'll do a trade???

Thanks Monte. I'll do that if I don't get any local takers!

I recently picked up a Pioneer Mustang Twin Pack. I would like to trade one of these brand new Mustang Fastbacks for a Pioneer Mustang Coupe (notchback). I have the black & gold versions of the fastbacks.   --------------------Bill

I'm open in the evenings, but my days are booked this week!

Either way is fine with me Rico!   ---------------Bill

I have some sections of routed track FREE to anyone who would like them. They are for a three lane track I started a few years ago, but did not finish. There are 2 - 180 degree turns, 1 - ess turn, and a couple straight sections. They are 1/8 inch slots routed in 1/2 inch MDF, with lane spacing wide enough for 1/24, and suitable for 1/32. The pieces all totalled equal approximately 25 to 30 feet of track.  -----------------Bill

YES, I'll take it for the $25, or if I have something you want to trade for. Either way is OK with me! Maybe we can hook up for lunch or something?  -------Bill

Thanks Rico. It's all down hill from here.....

It's OFFICIAL!!! The new track at TooBad Motorplex is now a complete circuit! Lap length measures out at 84 1/2 feet........Photo updates soon................   --------------------Bill

I'm interested in the Vette Rico.....   ----------------------Bill

Larry Cockerham is in the process of building a new 1/24 routed track. I received this email from Larry:

I have enough MDF left over to build another small track for someone.. Something like Cox, Revell & Mongram had for sale in the 60's.. Like a figure 8 with one long end and a doughnut with 4' turns..  Maybe with a foot print of 4' X 12 to 16' in size.. Make it a 3 lane with 4" lane spacing.. anyone that might be interested in a small big scale track or even a 1/32 track have them get a hold on me..  I'll cut out & route the track, but they have to build it and put it together them self kind of deal.... I can build a finshed track for a cost.. As it is all I want is time and materials for it.. I have copper tape if they want to go that route too.

If you are interested in having Larry build you a track let me know and I will forward the info to Larry.    ------------------Bill

Spent the day today working on the track. I got a pilot lane routed for the last two turns and two of the three remaining straights, in addition to some misc. stuff. I should be able to finish up the routing with one more full day. Now I just need to find the day!   --------------------Bill

I believe the bigger factor is in the guide flag lead (length between the rear axle and the guide flag pivot point).  My understanding, and what I have seen in testing is; the shorter the distance the "quicker" the handling (car will negotiate changes in direction, and tighter radius turns quicker). A good source for information regarding slot car chassis theory is Dave Naylor. Dave has a website with a forum here:

NASTE Racers - The date for the NASTE Meeting & BBQ is Sunday August 22nd.

It will be a pot luck BBQ event at Jack's in Milwaukie.

Plan on discussing the 2011 season, eating, and racing on Jack's 1/32 Revell track!!!   ---------------Bill

You're right Mike, the change is pretty minor. The portion of the curve I re-routed was decreasing radius from approximately 5 inch to about 3 1/2 inch. The middle of the curve was redone with a constant 5 inch radius which should make it a smoother transition to the cars. The inside lane now has a radius very close to that of the middle lane.
