Odd Thursday on August 29th. 13 racers made it out to Fairview despite the extreme evening humidity. We first raced the Classic Sports Car Class where Greg "Greenman" Petrolati posted the win. In the GT Class Gary "Goose" Gossett killed the field with his Mr. Slotcar Mazda (no more magnet cars for you Goose!). After we had finished abusing the sports cars and GT's, Chris Kouba brought out his 1/24 scale BRM Porsche 962's for a little IROC action. Rico Locati won that race edging out "Goose" by 3/4 of a lap. All in all it was great fun last night! Thank you all for making it out!

The results:

Classic Sports Car Class:

1st Greg Petrolati 48 laps
2nd Tracy Flood 47
3rd Gary "Goose" Gossett 47
4th Bryan Dickerson 46
5th Chris Kouba 43
6th Dennis Hart 43
7th Monte Saager 42
8th Bill Bostic 41
9th Jimmy Jones 39
10th Glenn Heath 37
11th Victoria Saager 35
12th Cailin Dunbar 32

GT Class:

It seems we have enough interest in these cars to take this someplace now.

I agree Monte, probably two classes. How many cars fit into the class represented by Scalextric Legends F1 Set? "Goose" has a couple of these cars re-motored and dialed in. It looks to me the two in Rico's photo would qualify?

The repair held up and worked fine. I switched to a Ninco Porsche 997 for racing at Penguin Point as it seemed to be a superior handling car (again after rear end modifications, limited to bracing).

As far as the trashing goes, the Flood's were the clear winners there! They were heads down and elbows up for the entire day! Nice work guys!

So, for the next workshop we have Monte screwin', Bryan checkin' Monte, and Tracy watchin" ?  I'm not sure I'm OK with that!

I'm so glad we didn't have any "plumbing" problems after eating my burgers and dogs!!!!   ------------------------Bill

I'd like to thank everyone who made it out to the BBQ yesterday! We had a great turn out of 27 people and 2 little kids. There were new and current racers as well as racers from the past. We ate hamburgers and hot dogs and potato salad and coleslaw and beans and cake and cookies and candy until we were stuffed!

I do apologize for not being better prepared for the workshop. I think we need to plan some workshops for next season, with the focus on car building alone. It was obvious we needed at least two thrash tables!

The buy/sell/trade area seemed to be a hit as well (thanks Dennis for the suggestion!).

Thanks June and Dorothy for all your help and food contributions!

All in all I think it went pretty well, and I had a great time, and really enjoyed the company of all my friends!   --------------------Bill

Yeah!

I sold the set I originally had on Ebay.  Now I'll have a used pair I can feel fine about running!!!

7:20am - Well, today's the day!  Haven't done this for a few years!

I've got tools and equipment out and ready for the morning workshop.

Got burgers and hot dogs awaiting the grill.

And of course the track is ready to go!

I'm ready anytime y'all are!   ---------------------Bill

COOL!!!

We'll make room!!!

How large do you need?????

I have lots of driveway space too..............

One of the NASTE racers suggested having a buy/sell/swap table set up.

Sounds like a good idea to me, so I'll have a table set up for that if anyone wants to bring out some stuff they'd like to part with. (I know I have SOME stuff to put out!).......

Ain't been in here for awhile either!

Overcast and warm this mornin'.  Time to start getting ready for the BBQ next Saturday!!!

Perfect day for a retiree!!!!!!

Was cruisin' around the site and noticed this stop. Looks like we were havin' some fun in here for awhile...........

Lookin' forward to the BBQ next Saturday!  Wonderin' how's gonna be around for chassis buildin'?  I'm thinkin' we will focus on some REALLY simple design!

Now that I'm retar'd and all, it's mostly Mai Tais for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's more examples of Greenman's creations:

Greg rebuilt this Revell McLaren lowering the body on the chassis, installing aluminum wheels with inserts, and replacing most of the running gear. This is one good handling Revell McLaren!

Odd Thursday Night Racing on August 15th. We had 9 racers for the Classic Sports Car Class. Rico took the win with Bryan Dickerson in second place. Rico raced his scratchbuilt Ferrari 250P and at the end Bryan was within 5 feet of Rico with his Ninco Corvette. In the GT Class Gary "Goose" Gossett got the win with his Slot.It Nissan R90. The margin of victory was very slim in this race also, as Goose edged out Rico with a mere 6 feet to spare. We saw some great close racing throughout the evening. Thanks to all that made it out!

Here's the results:

Classic Sports Car Class:

1st Rico Locati 47 laps
2nd Bryan Dickerson 47
3rd Bill Bostic 46
4th Terry Abbott 45
5th Greg Petrolati 44
6th Gary "Goose" Gossett 44
7th Monte Saager 43
8th Perry Petrequin 38

5th Terry Abbott 50
