Re: NASTE Logo Contest (11 replies, posted in NASTE)
I have had a request to extend the deadline for the NASTE logo contest. The new deadline is October 25th, 2014, which is the date for the NASTE Halloween Race at Rapid Raceway. The judging for the contest will take place at Rapid Raceway. The judges will consist of three senior NASTE members in attendance, and the race winner of the expert and NASTE Challenge races.
Due to the extension of the contest deadline and any anxiety that may create, the Fantasy World gift certificate prize has been increased to $35 !!!!
We currently have 4 entries in the contest, so get your entries in now!!!

Re: NASTEburgring (25 replies, posted in Events)
My understanding of the points system for the NASTEburgring is you received a single point for competing , and you received one point for each entry you beat in your class. It looks like there were only two cars entered in the Scalextric Historic class at both races in the Tacoma area. Likewise in the Cartrix class there were only two entries in each of the four races. The maximum points the winner of each of those races could receive was also two. In the two Oregon races there were four entries in the Scalextric Historic class races. The winners of each of those races were awarded a total of four points. Most racers entered the Scalextric Vintage class, with seven entries in the Oregon races and sixteen in the Washington races. That's where the big points were, but there were also more racers competing for a win.

Re: 2015 NASTE Racing Season Schedule (8 replies, posted in NASTE)
UPDATE:
The kickoff race for the NASTE 2015 racing season will be held at TooBad Motorplex in Fairview.
I have had requests to hold a Saturday race for racers that are unable to attend the Odd Thursday Night races, as well as those that are not really inetersted in the NASTE Point Series IROC races. This kick off race will be an all day event starting with a breakfast gathering at the Stagecoach on NE 201st & Sandy Blvd. The Stagecoach has a $4 breakfast special that is fantastic. The breakfast meet will start at 9:30am. Following breakfast the track at TooBad Motorplex will be open for practice from 10:30am to 11:30am. At 11:45am the green flag will drop for a Vintage F1 Race. This race will be for the vintage F1 cars as raced in the NASTEburgring races. The rules pertaining to car setup will be the same, and are described in this forum under 1/32 events. After the F1 race there will be a break for lunch. Racers will be on their own for lunch. There are many local restaraunts close by, as well as fast food venues. The track will be open for practice during the lunch break. After lunch there will be a race for the Classic Sports Car Class as raced in the Odd Thursday Night races. The rules for those cars are sec'd out in this forum under Race Rules. Practice for the NASTE Point Series Race will start at the usual time of 4:00pm, we will be serving pizza for dinner from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, with the IROC race starting at 6:30pm.
Racers interested in participating in the 2015 NASTE Point Series Race are not required to attend all the races during the day. The races prior to the point series race are optional, and will not be scored for points. Only the IROC races in the evening will be scored for the point series.
This will be a full day of racing, and racers may attend any of the individual races, or all if they so they desire!
So mark your calendars!!! ===============Bill

You may be wondering how my Scalextric #6 Trans Am Camaro worked after the modifications. The answer would be; much better! My fifth place finish last night is probably not a good measure of the car's improved performance. Even with my crapper driving I managed to pick up an additional 2 1/2 laps over my previous race's total with the car. Now if I could just improve my driving skills!

Odd Thursday September 11, 2014...........
Eleven racers showed up at TooBad Motorplex in Fairview on this Odd Thursday Night. In attendance was long time contributor to this forum, Ol' Mike. For those that don't know him, Ol' Mike has got to be the KING of all 1/43rd! I believe Mike has built more 1/43 cars than Artin! And ALL of them CUSTOM!
So back to the racing. John Fisher and Chris Kouba were back in town and ready for race day! The rest of the field was made up by the usual suspects. A Ninco Corvette returned to the top spot in the Classic Sports Car Class. The Trans Am Class is really heating up as racers get their cars dialed in. The Trans Am Class resulted in a first place tie, as well as a tie for fifth! And in the BRM Porsche 962 race, well a BRM Porsche 962 won. Go figure! Oh and the Goose? Well, he didn't have clear wins in all three races. Greg Petrolati managed to tie him for first in the Trans Am race.
So you may wonder; what makes Goose so good? First of all he is an expert at car preparation and set up. Second, he is a damn good driver! There you have it, his secrets are out. So load up, Goose season is officially open!

Re: 2015 NASTE Racing Season Schedule (8 replies, posted in NASTE)
Track owners,
We still have 10 open race dates for the 2015 NASTE Point Series. I am opening the schedule up to also allow the tracks that have already signed up to host races to pick an additional race date if they so desire. If you are interested in hosting a NASTE race for 2015 and have not yet signed up for a race date, now would be an excellent time to do so!

Re: "getting up to speed...slowly (16 replies, posted in Slot Talk)
John, It's really interesting for me to hear your perspective on slot car racing, especially with your recent experience and involvement in motor sports of the FULL scale! I have never committed to racing anything in 1:1 scale mostly because of the cost and commitment. The other limiting factor in my case was always skill and ability when it came to building equipment. I have seen your racing equipment, and I will say you are an excellent builder and fabricator. The cars, and the motorcycle that I have seen in your garage were beautifully constructed, and I know you did all the work from metal fab, to mechanics, to paint. Those are skills I just do not possess. I fully expect you to rise to the top in our slot racing circles, and I feel our group benefits from your participation!..............and oh by the way.............1/24 races at Rapid Raceway are coming up soon. Another avenue for you to explore!!!!!

Thanks Goose!
This number 6 car will get just the tires. I also have an old beat up number 9 Sunoco Camaro. I'm going to replace the rear axle assembly with a Slot.it axle and aluminum wheels with brass axle bushings in that car. It will be interesting to compare the two!
