A suggestion has been brought to me in regards to the NASTE "Club" purchasing a Tire Razor truing machine. I bring this to all of you to decide whether this is something the "club" members are interested in doing. There are a couple ways we could make the purchase. The current club funds are sufficient to make the purchase, or we could use a "share" purchase such as Dennis Hart has layed out for the Gravity racer program to get additional funds to make the purchase.

My only reservation is that I am all too aware that "club" owned assets have the potential to creat"problems" within a club. With that said, I would suggest that one person be responsible for the safe keeping of the machine. I would suggest a "check out" proceedure similar to obtaining a library book, with a log book kept to track who is in possession of the machine. I would suggest a designated length of time for possession of the checked out machine. I would expect the person checking out the machine would be responsible for any damage or loss of the machine, both physically and financially. It would also be nice if the machine were available for use on official NASTE race days, before the start of the race.

Your thoughts and comments are needed regarding this proposal.

Thanks!   =========Bill

I KNOW!!!...they're not all white with red noses!!!!

Awhile back Gary Gossett came to me with an idea regarding loaner cars for races at tooBad Motorplex. He suggested we set up and have available six cars to be used as loaners. I contacted Tony at Fantasy World Hobbies and we discussed the idea. What we decided upon was six Slot.it GT40 white kits. It was decided the cars would retain their traction magnets and original tires, leaving them in a "box stock" configuration. This should keep the cars dependable and durable while still being very good handling, quick and competitive cars.

Goose took the six chassis and completed the chassis set up and tuning. Chris Kouba assembled and painted the six bodies. I completed the final assembly. Ok, ok, I put the bodies on the chassis.......

I'd like to thank Goose for the idea, plan, financial help, and chassis set up!

Chris, thanks you for the beautiful paint jobs!

And last but not least, a big thanks to Tony and Fantasy World Hobbies for making us the deal on the six Slot.it GT40 white kits!

From what we have seen on the TooBad track I think tire and track temp has a lot to do with grip. Through the seasons, summer to winter and racing after dark versus light, we can definitely seen the differences in both lap times and lap count at the end of a race. I've noticed Jeff is paying attention to his tire temps before he starts his heat races and his performance has improved considerably. Maybe I'll start keeping records of track temp for races?

I would imagine most of you have seen this before, but for those that haven't here is some good general tire info:

John Fisher brought along this scratchbuilt F1 car he has been working on.

John said he couldn't locate a motor bracket so he made his own. Very nice job!

He also hand made the guide flag mount.

A Vintage Modified NASTE style. NASTE racers raced these cars for a few years awhile back. Bryan built this car years ago and it has yet to be raced!

Bryan also brought out a Go Kart he built. This is the second Go Kart Bryan has built. The first was about the size of a small 1/24 car. This one is about the size of a 1/32 car. Both are very cool!

Gravity Racing Team Report
No. 2 ~ December 26th, 2015

This report and all that follow are public and designed to inform Gravity Team & NASTE members regarding progress, needs and upcoming events in regard to the current project to build and race a gravity powered adult race car by the 3rd Saturday in August of 2016.

There are currently eight team members including Dennis Hart, Bill Bostic, Jeff & Amy Fields, Al Christonson, Greg Petrolati, Jimmy Jones and Mitch .

Since the last report, I have sold 5 more shares bring our total capital to $200 less 7 dollars to Goodwill for a very nice upholstered chair that I have modified to serve as the cockpit chair (a perfect fit).

I also revised the livery to a more conservative black, grey, silver and red.  It looks much better.

In the little available time before Christmas (working 3 days a week at my substituting job) I have been trying to clean out my shop, which is not easy as we have our two sons and families and junk currently living at our place.  Happily,  my youngest son and family (including cat and dog) is moving into their own place on January 1st.  We love them all, but it has been a trial with all this cold, wet weather.

I hope to have it ready by January 7th so you all can have a look, if not, it might have to wait until we return from Kauai in March to begin in earnest.  I will also be purchasing additional materials as good deals arise.  The director of the Salem SBD is still looking for used hardware or a car we can salvage parts from.

We still have lots of time and I want to be careful and not waste money and (or) materials.

As always, I welcome your good ideas and (or) input.

- DH
