Topic: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Guys and gals—

I know I've been saying this for quite some time, but I DO have a track, and it's up and running. The only downside is that it's in our shop, and with cold weather, it's very difficult to keep warm. When the weather gets a little warmer, I'll be inviting everyone down for some racing. The track is 4 lanes routed, about 68' per lane with a Pyramid 25XK power supply for variable voltage.

Some pix (when the track was in Southern California, slightly different now in the shop):

NICE TRACK!!!

Can't wait to try it out!!!!

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

That looks great Stan, we can hardly wait.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Wonderful.  Looking forward to it.  Does the track have a name?

Nice work!

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

The track is "Autodromo Rossa Colline" (Red Hills Raceway in Italian). Since I'm in the Red Hills of the Dundee AVA and live off Red Hills Road, it seemed appropriate. When I was in SoCal, it was "Autodromo Baia Della Sud" (South Bay Raceway).

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Apparently, my track is in need of a bit of re-braiding. Do any of you NASTE members that have a routed track have any extra braid? I only need about 20 feet.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Sorry Stan, I used copper tape on my track.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

I'm checking with John Police, they may have some extra.

I think Larry Cockerham may have some he'd be willing to sell.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Are you looking for Magna-braid or just tinned copper braid?

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

I'm going to pick up 20-30 ft. of braid from John tomorrow or this weekend.  How soon did you want it?

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

No big rush, and it's just tinned copper braid. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get away from the dog business in the next couple of weeks; we're really booked solid. 20 feet is plenty. Just let me know how much to pay.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

John says he has a lot, it's a freebie.  Sloters helping sloters - as it should be.

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

That's great news. When I'm free to pick it up, do I get it from you, Monte?

Re: Track is almost ready; waiting for warm weather

Sure, or I can bring it along to the next event and save you a trip.

Not sure when I'll be able to get to an event in the near future. We have lots of dogs to take care of, so it might be a while. It's probably best to just hang on to it until I can get there. Thanks to you and John (especially John!).
