Topic: Hybrid Chassis?

Here's something for you builders to think about. Some of you saw and had a chance to run my Carrera Corvette with the Slot.it motor pod I installed. That one change made a significant improvement in that car! Yesterday I started a project to make an inexpensive and simple scratchbuilt chassis for 1/32 cars. Well as usual what I started out to accomplish went sideways and became a little more of a project than I had intended. Half way through plan A I shifted gears to plan B. The center section I had made yesterday fits perfectly in the center of a Monogram Greenwood Corvette chassis. After seeing the Greenwood Corvette Bryan Dickerson built, and how well it performed, I'm thinking this might be something worth tinkering with. So instead of using a Slot.it motor pod or cutting down some other production chassis, this will be an attempt to adapt a scratchbuilt motor pod of sorts.

Re: Hybrid Chassis?

Interesting approach you have there, i applaud you for trying to make a good chassis out of a not so good chassis & for sharing you're cool designs, best of luck that it works for you. You sure have jumped on the bad wagon for new cars to run. By the way; do you have a (slot car) fever?!!!

Re: Hybrid Chassis?

I do feel a little warm...........I think retirement is finally setting in. I'm starting to settle in and get a few more things done, and spend more time on hobbies. I don't really want to add a bunch of classes to our Odd Thursday Racing line up. I don't want people to think they have to keep getting more cars, I know that can be expensive. I will continue to look for interesting cars and car types to use as a set of IROC cars for our NASTE races. This particular project (I'm hoping) may serve well as my new GT Class car for Odd Thursday. We'll see how the inititial test session goes tomorrow! Maybe I'll be racing my new Greenwood Corvette next to Bryan Dickerson's awesome Greenwood Corvette?
