It depends on the current ratings.   I run a variable power supply that is adjustable from 6 to 15v with 22A current.  For a two lane track, it's plenty, probably for a four lane too.  Current is more important than voltage.

Rico, do they have any SCX?

Have you used Tracker 2000?  It will tell you the exact lane length for each lane.  However, if you swap lanes then it doesn't really matter.  We typically runs heats in a rotating manner so that each driver has a turn on each lane.  Then it's not a question of who got the good lane.  You have to do well on all the lanes.

Next time you're out you can give it a try - I think it matches pretty well.

Yes, that's what I did too.  Works well depending on your ability and patience.  You can also go the foam route.

That's really a slick job on the Super J.  Must have been the real demon in it's day.  And the Vette looks like it has a variety of non-standard HO parts on it.  Tell us more.

Are those tractor tires on the front?

Hey Rico, I'm jut fine without my beauty sleep.  As long as I get my nap.  cool

I like the 2-minute heat 2-off rule that I think they use in the Tacoma area.  That will make it shorter and eliminate the bad drivers quickly.  Larry, they'll only be in your way for two crashes.  If we have fewer drivers, we can just run more heats.  More than two offs would be hard to track.  We can use three-minute heats for endurance events.

To make something like this possible, I wonder if we should consider moving to shorter heats with a max off rule?  I think I'd opt for separate winners so that one doesn't appear to have more value than another.  IROC is a drivers series, the other I view as more of a builders series.

Mike, we are racing this Saturday so if you'd like to travel up to Portland and give it a try, let us know and we'll get you the info.  The format is 1/24 IROC with both cars and controllers supplied.  Should be a good time.

Bryan's point is well taken.  If we move to self-owned cars then those that don't have one may not be racing.  And that's not really a good thing.  I've got two separate tracks of cars to sponsor here at home so I'm not really interested in having a complete set of stuff for EVERY scale, it just doesn't make sense economically.  I prefer to specialize in the scale that works here at home.  However, I'm glad to race any scale I don't have when cars/controllers are supplied.  Since I do already have some 1/24 scale stuff so I would be interested in that too but only if the cost stays down, that's just too many scales for me and I am probably not alone here.  And that's the glory of NASTE IROC.

Perhaps build-your-own 1/24 scale cars would be a good idea for the NASTE Thursday night crowd.

One of the web sites was mentioning that the red 917 is an NSR that hasn't been released yet.  Yet.  Very cool.

Hey you bet, anything we can help with, just ask away.  And welcome!  Are you building a permanent track or one you plan to take up and down?

I agree with Bryan, fantastic job.  Bill, one question:  In your opinion which one did you prefer?

I think anything we can get that is currently produced is going to be easier to round up than having to go through the ebay wars and still spend the same amount of money.  I'd be happy with either the EJ's or the Pro-Trac.

Another good time last night at Bill's as eight friends of the slot gathered for - what else - slot cars!

For those of you that missed it, we ran around both 1/24 and 1/32 scale cars.  I was surprised at how well the 1/32 scale cars took to the track.  Magnet-less of course.  And yes, Rico has the Fly car to beat.  We also looked at some ideas for our proxy racer that will be entered in an "around the world" race.  Thanks Bill!  Hope you got some sleep.

Stay tuned for the next NASTE Thursday.

One of the guys on the SCX Worldwide forum posted his how-to for building pit garages.  The don't look difficult or very expensive.

So who'd like to get together one night and build some?  This looks like a perfect project for a NASTE Thursday!

Here's the two common Fly motors that could easily be compatible for a Fly class used by many of the different cars:

We're making some progress.  The "wild boy" protection is in place saving wear and tear on my garage door, water heater and the cars!  Working on the basic painting now.

Most of us have tried at one time or another to remove Tampo prints from the cars so you can do a re-paint.  Typically I have been soaking them in Simple Green and then scraping or sanding whatever didn't come off, sometimes even just laying primer over the top and then sanding that down to a smooth finish.

One of the guys in another forum says the best way to get the Tampo off is by soaking them in 91% alcohol, basically rubbing alcohol.

I'm going to give that a try and will report on the results.
