A single class does raise some questions.  Is this same car going to be used at all Naste races? That is one of the things I enjoy at the Naste races: the variety of scales.  I realize it would be easier on the person putting on the race not to have to provide cars, but it would be harder for someone to just show up and race.  I think another factor is that more people have to be involved, there are just a handful of us that regularly post here and I certainly don't have the right to decide for others. Anyway, just some more random thoughts that float through my pea brain.

Bill- Have you tried the Carrera cars on the 1/24 track?  I'm certain we can make the Slot.its run as it has already been done by you and others.  What about a bracket style race format. Let's say LMP style bodies, but no set make or brand of chassis, just a break out time.  That would encourage some creativity and allow for some tinkering.  You could even have more than one class or level that way different levels of ability could compete on a even playing field. It could even be set up as a progression.  I am just throwing out ideas.  I will race pretty much anything, except Randy's ASCARS, (Those old Scalextric Nascars) I really don't like them things.

I like it.  It incorporates the flying as well as the crashing.

Slum is in the eye of the beholder!!!   They belong to my widowed mother and my brother and I do all the work for her.  There are three buildings with 15 apartments, an 8 plex, a 4 plex and a 3 plex and all a quite nice if I say so myself.

Throw in 3 more kids, 15 rental units, a cat and everyone coming to my house for Thanksgiving.  Are we having fun yet?

I thought of you clowns (ah...I mean racers) as I was returning from a beautiful day at Seaside.  It was hard to keep from turning at the Scholls Ferry exit on 217.

I have been watching several of these cars on Ebay including some from each of the four major brands and they seem to be selling in the $25.00 to $50.00 range.  Ofcourse, this is depending on brand and completeness of the car. I am not seeing that they are especially cheap and this is not including any additional costs to make them run. Do not get me wrong, I still think it would be fun to try these out, but let's not mislead on the cost involved on running these cars.

Don't forget the Scalextric 1967 "Year of the Legends" set.  They do qualify, but I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to race them.

One possible solution would be run this vintage class as part of the Naste Thursdays, that way it would not change or interfere with the tried and true Naste formula for Saturdays.  One question I have is what type of track do these cars run on? (yes, I'm that ignorant)  I personally think it would be fun to try something like this as long as the chassis and motors are stock.  I do not have the knowledge or inclination to rewind armatures.  One additional item would be some sort of spec tire so everyone is on an equal footing.  As far as bodies, I would hope that we could come up with something a little more interesting than Nascar bodies.  To me, the Vintage chassis style=vintage body style.  I've seen this type of chassis for sale on Ebay with both vacuum formed and hard bodies.  Which style would we want to run?  More decisions.....................

Monte has already provided the moving targets......your competitors cars!  We better tone this down or he's gonna change his mind about having the race.

I think that the water heater trumps the garage door for the simple fact it's a much smaller target and farther away.......

It was kinda tough to do low dollar modifications using Slot it only parts other than blueprinting and my R&D skills are still developing  or non-existant, I'm not sure which.

What commercial tracks?  They can't seem to stay open around here.  I think it may have something to do with the active club racing that we have available in the area.  I believe that the wing cars would fall under Group 7.  I've seen some of them run back when Raceway USA was open and they are wicked fast.

Thanks alot Bill, that clears up much of what I wanted to know.  Does anybody still use these classes or is it just people using old terminology?

Fellow Slotheads-  I checked out Monte's digital system last night.  It definately adds some new elements to slot car racing.  You can now slam your oponents from behind as well as the standard "rub".  We also had a jumping/flying contest-not sure who one.....We both had some spectacular offs.  I found it to be a real challenge to get into the correct lane for pit stops and for passing.  I think I was pressing the lane change button too often or too late- I don't know.  Anyway it was fun.

Can anyone explain the difference between the motor sizes etc between 16D, S16D, 26D etc.  In addition, what the different classes are in general.  I always see Group 12, Group 15, WASP etc.  I am just trying to get a wrap on all the terminology and what it means.
Thanks

As always I have to fit my slot car activities around Kelly's work schedule and the kids activities but if the schedule is clear I will try to be there.  If the time and budget allow I want to try and get some type of permanent track up at my house.  More than likely running 1/32 scale either in Scaley Sport or a routed track if I get really ambitious.
