Dennis, talk to Beau he made me one by cutting up an H&R chassis and making it articulate. It runs fantastic.

Thanks,  but I also have a nice chassis sitting here built by Beau .... apparently for a 34 Ford.  I'm getting good ideas from looking at it. It won't fit my 37 Chevy body so I have to start another one from scratch and give this one back to Ted who has been trying to help me get involved in these classes.

Also Bill, I didn't mention the fact that the Early Modified is a direct copy of the Sportsman chassis. So if a person wants to build an Early Modified chassis instead it will be included in the session. If a person wants to build both chassis, that is fine.

Early Modified is also a popular class, we are racing them as a back up race to NASCAR for the second half of this season. Open wheel excitement!

Howie, I don't understand your (direct copy) comment above?

I just got a AMT 1937 Chevy body kit and trying to figure out how I am going to custom build a chassis to fit the body .... along with wire bumpers front and rear. My Sportsman chassis is not even close to use for this Early Modified class.

Big wheel Nascar is automatically my favorite class of car ..... due primarily to the allowing of angle or sidewinder motor design and installation. They look fast just sitting there waiting for the start of the race.

Howie turns down the voltage and after trimming rear tires ... these cars work very well. Ted offered to turn up the timing on my Hawk7 motor (like his)  but I declined his offer. smile

I must admit .... Sportsman is more fun than I thought it would be.  A basic brass chassis and heavy body makes for a driving challenge but we can get surprisingly aggressive in the corners. Next goal is to lower my fall outs .. especially when trying to overtake the guy next to me!

I forgot to say .... the 80 watt Weller soldering iron I just bought worked fantastic to heat up the thick brass plates and flow the solder quickly. Keep the tip tinned with solder and frequently dip the tip into a small paint jar of liquid soldering acid. That really wakes up the iron and it goes to 900 degrees and stays there a few minutes while I do my prepared joints.  Then I pull the plug to cool off the tip often after a few solder joints  ... and re-tin or re-dip before it cools off too much.

Very nice chassis DC!

I fixed the photo for you by uploading it to the website. It did display fine by clicking on the link you supplied.

Thanks Bill ..... been building metal chassis for slot racing for many decades. The heavy chassis' for scale hard bodies are a relatively new experience tho ... that I am still figuring out how to build a better mousetrap. The bar is set pretty high for car performance in this group.

I think my Indy fronts are on my BW Nascar? I now have built about 9 or 10 cars for Oregon style racing over the years ... and it gets confusing what's on what.  I even have a Modena car built for an enduro at Bob's a few years ago.

You built my Indy car and it is still here .... minus gears and tires.  What was the recommended 48 pitch gears ... 8 - 34 for the Hawk motor?   Also will you have front and rear tires available?

Hmm,  looks like the picture didn't display properly ... but clicking on the link opened it up?

Yes,   great pics and video!  Almost as much fun to go back and review the race ... as the race itself.  In watching the video, it reminds me that I need to adopt a slightly less aggressive approach to my driving. My cars are fast ... but my right forefinger is off the pace and inconsistent. Maybe I should try my LEFT forefinger? Nah,  just more laps and pulling back a tenth of so on my E.Ts should do it.

Here is a pic of my Sportsman.  I think I did see a 4.5 lap time for it! (I made the rear motor/axle bracket a bit too wide for stock rear tires!)

All I want to know is, what happened to Indy Car votes?????? I LOVE those cars!!!!

Gotta admit, I voted for Early Modified!

I have work to do, my NASCAR sucks!

I am a rookie as far as experience with your car classes .... but so far my favorite class is the BW Nascar. I built one just in time to race the Rapid 500 in October. Car was good but have made changes (and repairs) since then and crossing my fingers I have improved the performance. Plus,  I am starting a new sidewinder BW Nascar chassis project that looks bizarre ... but I have to build it.

I don't really like building cars due to the time commitment and I am a slow methodical builder ... but I do like to finish one and see it get around the track at competitive speeds!
