If your anything like me you have some GT-3 cars sitting around that just never cut the mustard. The worst of the bunch was my BMW Z-4.
So I dug it out of the drawer of dead cars, gave it a shot of Rustoleum Black, A Piranha motor, some Slot It wheels, axles, gear and NSR tires. It no longer fits into our GT-3 class and it's not fast enough for our other GT class but it sure is fun to blast around my track. I may have to build it something to run with.

Alas,
Another odd Thursday comes and goes.

Tom, because most vary a bit, typically you want to get the body you want first, then build the chassis to fit it.

This looks years ahead of what everyone else was building in 1966. I saw a lot of these styling ques throughout the 70s

Nice find, good luck with the shed. If you get to a point where you need lifting something, call me.
They make two types of tetanus shots, one for long term protection and one for immediate protection. One morning on a job in Prineville I found myself in need of both.

I found a few trees on clearance at a LHS so I gave a bit of a nod to the Circuit De La Sarthe, AKA LeMans.

Bill found a body in Goose's collection to fit my chassis.  Perfection

Digging around the parts/dead cars box I came across this Scalextric Fiat. I don't remember buying it, it probably came with something else I bought. It had a broken wheel and a motor that would barely turn. I took it apart changed the motor, wheels ect, basically treated it like I race going to race it. The end result was something not as fast as what we usually race but a car that is an absolute blast to drive around the track as fast as you can.

I sanded the old paint and most of the magnetic primer off and repainted with an acrylic latex paint in semi gloss using a smooth foam roller.

Thats good to know! What they are compared to Thunderslot or NSR?

It runs as well and my NSRs, I've found nothing that runs as well as a Thunderslot. however I had to do some work on the Thunderslots to run as well as they do. I haven't even removed the body on the GT-1

Out of boredom I was fooling around with this Spirit Peugeot, suddenly it matches my 962 for lap times and just happens to fall into the ground effects era. The handling is excellent, king of like a swollen Thunderslot.

It took a bit of doing but I was able to get my Slot It LMP to out perform my NSR Mosler

I just got my second Revoslot. The Toyota GT1. That and my Marcos just out of the box will run 6.315 without turning a single screw.  Sure they all run $79.99 but you don't have to add weight,  swap motors,  guides,  or tires to run very fast and smooth. Just open a box and go racing.

Ready for whenever we start racing again.

I couldn't get it to do anything last night, I barely got those 5 words typed

Never mind this site has issues

Bill's Too Bad track was in his garage The only Issue I was aware of was when we had a drastic temperature/weather change the tape would wrinkle a bit and need to be smoothed out.

Al has had no problem with his.

Mine still takes a beating in the corners even with the new smooth surface. I'm beginning to think it may be because I run so many different brands of older cars, and run them harder than they were ever intended to run on a home track.  But it sure is fun.

Looking forward to helping you with yours.

Looks good Doc. Shouldn't take long to whip that out with the right tools. Being in a garage with the temp. Changes are you wanting to use braid or tape?
