Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Great racing, even though I had a lot of deslots with cars that are typically user friendly. I'm not sure that my brain got rewired in the proper slot car configuration.

The Dr. said there were going to be some things I'd have to learn all over.
At the time I thought he was talking about going to the bathroom all by myself, go figure.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

It was good just to see you back in the slot Mitch. your aim will come back. Al had no problem cleaning up the bathroom after we all left.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

OK, so I'm making some progress. Last race I had managed to acquire a Slot.it Chaparral 2E for the Can Am Class. I raced it in stock configuration and was pretty happy with the car. As of today I still have not found my "race" cars but I did manage to acquire another new car for the Le Mans Class. My choice was a Fly Ford GT40 MKI, mostly because it was the cheapest thing I could find that fit the class. So today I tried to get it ready for tomorrow night's race. I had forgotten what pieces of crap these Fly cars are. The bodies are beautiful but the rest is crap! I replaced the guide flag, added a little lead, and did a little grinding here and there to unbind the body to chassis fit. The race prep work is a little tough right now because I have not yet located all my slot car tools either. Luckily I have lots of Dremel Tools and have found some of them scattered here and there! We'll see how the GT40 works tomorrow night, but everyone knows I'm not known for my car building expertise!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I'm still running mid pack with my Fly Carrera 6 AKA 906, it's not a winner but I love driving it. I'm also bringing a Fly Porsche 917 as a back up car in case the 906 goes south.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Only thing stock on fly 908 is the motor.both. axiles were junk and the guild was also bad.see u all tonight for candy high let down.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Al  I tore your motor out of your gt40 and after inspected I have bad news the pinon and motor are toast.going need new ones, looks like the motor got to hot and melted the front bushing on the com side of the motor the result there lots of side play.  and that what all the binding was about in the gear train. might think about a new spur also never going to be right after the pinon gear tore it up.

Al, I've probably got all of those parts if you get to this side of town

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks Doc, I'm not surprised

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Some excellent racing took place last night at Rippin' Ridin' Raceway. The first class to start of the night was for Classic Sportscar Div. 2. These cars have been refined to a point where the cars are way faster than the sponsor of the class ever thought they would be! Overall lap totals for a race are close to those of the Open Class! Doc won beating Mitch in second place by five laps.

After Doc got done slapping us around in the Classic Sportscar 2 Class, the Le Mans cars were gridded for the second race in the 2019 point series. This race was very close with only a lap separating the top four cars. In the end Al successfully defended his title as Champion for the second week in a row, besting the field for the win.

For those racers that stuck around, we lined up the Open Class cars for a third race. Some really fast lap times were turned, but lap totals reflect quite a few get-offs. These cars are really fast but on the edge. In this race it was Doc again leading the way to the checkered flag. No second places last night for the Deuce!

Here's the results-

Classic Sports Car 2:
1 Daniel   75.4 Laps
2 Mitch    70.5
3 Rico  69.7
4 Gary  65.9
5 Al  65.2
6 Monte  65.2
7 Stan  63.3
8 Jeff  62.9
9 Victoria  57.5
10 Bill  51.3

Le Mans Class - NASTE 2019 Point Series Championship Race No.2 @ Rippin' Ridin' Raceway:
1 Al 70.8 Laps
2 Monte   70.0
3 Daniel   69.7
4 Jeff  69.3
5 Gary  67.8
6 Rico  67.1
7 Bill  66.8
8 Mitch   64.0
9 Stan  60.1

Open Class:
1 Daniel  75.4 Laps
2 Al  72.5
3 Bill  71.0
4 Mitch 69.5
5 Rico  67.8

Not just you Doc, it appears to have been having issues.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Yes, the host had a major server outage this past weekend.  I spent the weekend tied to my notebook checking, checking, checking and answering email about why the sites were down.
