Topic: PASER Trans Am Race at Inslot's Checkered Flag

On May 25th 2023 PASER held a Trans Am race at Inslot's Checkered Flag Raceway. I was pleased with the turn-out of nine racers, especially because it was a three day holiday weekend! I opened the doors to the track at 9:00 am. Racers started showing up as early as 8:15 am, many of them with breakfast snacks in hand! Once it looked like all of the participants had arrived we decided to go ahead and start the race. I had decided on a 4 minute heat 3 round format as an experiment to see how a somewhat shorter race would go. Once everyone had seemed to get enough pre-race practice we started the race. Start time was just before 10:30 am.

Nine racers allows for just enough turn marshals to fully cover the track, four racers with five turn marshals. The racing was very close, well except for Craig Reiland who came down from Seattle to join in the racing and lead the way to the checkered flag! Craig's car was just ballistic! Nobody could touch him! John Gill was the only other racer to come even close to Craig's lap times. John finished second with Al Christensen in third. It was very tight from third through fifth, with car issues decided many of the battles.

All said I think it was a pretty good race. We were finished racing by 2:30 pm. There was plenty of time for practice and tuning before and after the actual race. Personally I felt I had plenty of on track racing time. I would like to get some feedback from the other racers as to what they thought of the format, in regards to the amount of on track racing time, practice time, and the race start time as well as finish time. To me it seemed it was a pretty laid back atmosphere. Give me some feedback so I can start plans for next season!

Yep was fun for my 1st Saturday race.  Learned a few things  about preparing  these bigger cars.the secound round just killed my lap count but it happens think most of use had a car issue  at one time or another. Nobody was going catch that 33 car.
