I just saw that there was a race at Bob new track on Monday.  How did it go. So are back to racing every Monday except on the 4th.

Traffic around Troutdale was a disaster, it took an hour to get from the exit to Bob's house.  There was Bob, Dave, John and myself. We didn't race, we all race laps for a while then did some socializing until it was late enough to start worrying about work traffic.

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

I want to see some pics of Bob's new set up!
Its great there are 4 tracks now!

by. Why so bad? Construction delays or just people  can't drive

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

A crane blew a tire and had a massive fiery accident near Cascade Locks so I-84 was closed causing traffic gridlock

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

So just bad timing. Shouldn't have a issue next time around

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

This past Monday, July 11th was Open Track at Inslot's Checkered Flag raceway in Vancouver. The doors opened at 10:00 AM as usual, and the first race for Womps started at noon. The Womps have become a popular, highly contested class, with some very close racing! This race was no exception! Bob Nakamura was the fast guy posting another victory, which awards him another "Fence Post" on the coveted PASER WEENER CUP!

Here are the results from the Womp race. This are 20 lap sprint races with points awarded for finish position, and totaled for an overall score to determine the race winner. Also to note is these are races run with a "break-out" minimum lap time to keep the competition somewhat equal. The break-out is set at 5.5 seconds. It is interesting to see how close the competitors run to that minimum lap time!

After the Womp race we raced the Flexi Class. The rules for this class are pretty loose. Competitors must race a flexi type chassis car..........That's pretty much it. The Flexi race was run with one round of 3 minute heats. Mitch Brooks was the Flexi Man of the day and posted his first win at Inslot's Checkered Flag! Mitch's name was the newest addition to the PASER WEENER CUP! Congrats Mitch!

The last race of the day was a first time event at Inslot's Checkered Flag. John Gill provided the inspiration, leadership, and cars to put together a field of IROC cars for racing at PASER sponsored events. The cars are all PASER/OSCAR spec cars for the Sports Car and Clubman Classes. The cars feature "hot" super 16D motors, and they are FAST! The chassis of course make these "hardbody" cars handle like Flexis! We had 5 racers stick around for this race. The racing was very close, but best of all, we suffered no failures or beak downs! Thank you John for your work and generosity in provided these outstanding cars!

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

Monday July 25th @ The Gorge Raceway in Troutdale!

Due to some computer issues at Rob's Redline Raceway, Monday's race venue was switched to Bob Nakamura's Gorge Raceway in Troutdale. This switch created some issues on its own and I apologize for any confusion! With that said, we did end up having some great racing in the gorge!

It was hot outside, but Bob's basement location for the track was nice and cool! This was the first official race for the track which was recently moved from its original location in Keizer Oregon. The track was originally built by Paul Painter and it is beautiful! For me this course is very difficult, and I struggled with even completing laps! I had raced on it at its previous location, but it has been quite sometime, and it showed!

The first class of cars to be gridded were the Womps. Our PASER Womp Class is probably different than most Womp classes throughout the slot car racing world. We race them in a narrow width formula, with the track being no wider than the width of the chassis. While limiting the cars performance where cornering is concerned, it poses no limit on the fun aspect of racing them!

With only five racers in attendance we raced using a "track call" system, which due to our lack of previous experience on the track, led to some pretty lengthy heat races! Our host and track owner Bob showed us all the fast way around the course and took the Womp win!

After the Womp race we lined up Flexi cars. Even at less than eleven volts these cars proved to be quite a challenge! My strategy for future Flexi races at The Gorge will be DE-TUNE! For this race we ran one round of three minute heats. Again our host took the podium (I'm starting to see a pattern here!). Here are the results:

1st Bob 130 laps
2nd John 118
3rd Rob 102
4th Bill 100
5th Hersche 91

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

Detune,
I built a Flexie just for that track. I used the same Professor Motor 25K motor that most use in the Womps. It might be too slow for some, but I have been able to get some pretty good laps without coming out too often.

I probably won't go with that soft of a motor for my Flexi, but I will for sure change my gearing!

That explains  why when I drove by Robs track  I did not see any body's cars

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

The first race on Rob's Redline Raceway was held on Monday August 8th. After a few "issues" with the lap counting system (installer error), we lined up the Womps for the first race.

The Womps were exciting on Rob's track! They ran very well and were well suited to the layout!

After the Womp race we put Flexi class cars on the start line.

Here's the results from the Flexi race:

Like the Womps the Flexi's ran very well on Rob's track. Lap times were blisteringly fast, even with a lack of grip on the new green track surface! Once the track is tacked up I am sure lap times will be even quicker!

Re: PASER Open Track Monday!

Monday August 22 brought some great racing to Inslot's Checkered Flag Raceway! At noon we ran the usual Womp race using the 20 lap sprint race format with three rounds of heats. Bob Nakamura finished in first in what ended up being a very close battle.

In the Flexi race John Gill proved to be the man to beat. John took the win over Bob Nakamura by just two laps!
