Re: This is the Indy car page.

The above statement by Dennis is incorrect. I just got off the phone with Ted discussing this issue. Ted said he does not take these motors apart and time them, it would be way too hard to take it apart and figure out how to time it and get it back together ( I agree ). Ted said he thought Dennis was listening to a conversation that Ted was having with another racer about a different motor all together. I know for a fact that even though motors are designed, put together at the factory the same way as the next motor etc. one is going to be a little better. Any way I just wanted to clarify the issue so as no one suspects Ted of cheating. In fact Ted got the motor from Bad Bob's Can-Am!

Re: This is the Indy car page.

Yes,  on my last post about Ted's Hawk7 motors I should have made it real clear ... I was just joking. That is why I included the smiley face.

The way to get a faster Hawk motor is to buy about 10 and only use the top 3 or so after doing a complete break in.

Re: This is the Indy car page.

Crunching some numbers on yesterdays race.  Zack the winner cut a best lap of 4.595 .... so a perfect race "potential" would be 835.6 laps in a 64 minute race. Since no one ever has a perfect race .... rather has to contend with passing slower traffic and wrecks to avoid and occasional fall outs ... plus running on the slower lanes .... reaching a potential of 92% of perfect puts him right around 768 laps,  which is very good. Some race computers will calculate the race and analyze it from every stat.

Nope,  got plenty to do.  Just sharing some math analysis.

Re: This is the Indy car page.

I noticed a huge difference in the number of laps we turned this year over last year. We ran the same amount of time. same amount of times through, same motors etc. The only change I can think of is the spray glue over the spot glue that I used to do. I got a few good comments during the last couple races about the spray over the spot glue.

Re: This is the Indy car page.

It was a fun race. I enjoy these cars for this type of race.

My car wasn't particularly good, but I was able to get it better as the day went on.

For those who were asking about my motor and gearing. The motor is better than some others, however I did end up running 8/27 gearing which I think is quite a bit higher than many were running.

This is due to the fact that we are running 9.5v, so to achieve similar wheel rpm you have to gear considerably lower to reach this speed. Something to try for next year!

Re: This is the Indy car page.

I had a good time as well. Thanks again Howie for letting us race.  God help us all if your car wasn’t that good and you still kicked our tails. I was reasonably happy with my car for a rushed effort. It should be better next time.

Rico

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

After that first run in white I was pretty sure Marty or Beau had my number!

The car started coming in well toward the end, but she was a little spicy in the beginning.
