Topic: New Home for a Historic Track!

Rob Enders has purchased and moved Jeff Courtney's Hemi Heights Raceway to his shop space in north Vancouver. Rob's space is in the upstairs of a large shop building. It will provide space for some great racing as well as plenty of pit space in an adjoining room! This track originally built by Larry Cockerham and Dave Smith, was located in Larry's shop in Carlton Oregon. Jeff Courtney purchased the track and moved it to his shop in northeast Portland. Jeff recently moved and sold the track to Rob. It will now be located close to the Salmon Creek area just north of Vancouver. Rob has just started putting the track back together and perform some minor restoration work. I know of no one better at this type of work. Rob has done some awesome restorations of slot cars and vintage signage. He is well qualified for this task! This track has been host to PASER, OSACAR, and NASTE club races. It will be great to have this track back up and running!

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

That looks awesome. The room on the other hand is far to clean for a race room....

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Looking good and the room really looks nice. I raced on that track once when Larry still owned it.

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Bill and I went up to help Rob bolt the track together yesterday and Bill did some wiring also. That is an awesome room and great views of the nice area.

Counter clock-wise

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

YES!

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Stopped by Rob's again today. He is making great progress on his track, and it is coming along nicely!

When Howie and I were there yesterday we got it all bolted together. Rob has now started on filling holes, sanding, and repairing side walls.

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Did the track get re-braided at some point?  I remeber Flyin' Bryan being clocked in inches of tape per second.

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Bill; you got a lot of pictures of me with my hands in my pockets! Good thing that is not a picture for my resume! Dwayne has a co-worker that everyone calls "pockets" because that  is where his hands are most of the time!

That is going to be a fun track once again. Has Ron put a new name on it yet?

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Jeff had already re-braided the bad spots through the corners. Rob is going to re-glue the areas where the braid is still good, but the old glue has given up. The plan is to get the track up and running and then assess any other needs. Rob is contemplating the extension of the straight exiting the banked sweeper and into the hairpin. If that change is made he will probably re-braid the entire track at that time.

Rob has not yet chosen a name for this track. Anybody got any great ideas? I'm still kind of fond of TooBad Motorplex!!!

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

For the area that the track is in if I owned it I would have to have to add the word "country" in the name somewhere. Should be interesting to see what he names it.

Re: New Home for a Historic Track!

Bob Nakamura and I made a trip over to Rob's track today. Rob has done an outstanding job of setting up this track he purchased from Jeff Courtney. This track was originally built by Larry Cockerham and Dave Smith. Today we connected the wiring to Rob's new power supply to get the track up and running. We also connected the wiring to the computer to check the race program operation. I can verify all is good, and Rob is moving forward towards the first race day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7120n9Xy3U

Rob has completed the work on his track. I will be the first to say the finished product came out very nice! The track is smooth, runs well, and looks great! Nice job Rob!
