Doc mentioned the above proposed rule change to the PGE Class here at ICFR on Monday. I'd like to give Chris Kouba the chance to weigh in on this since he is the Sponsor of this class.

Chris?

Sorry gents, I've been offline a bit.

If the Can Am cars are the concern, I'd rather include a restriction that Can Am eligible cars can only run in the Can Am class.  I would like to keep the open top option available for the class.  This would keep the Matra and Audi R8's as potential runners in their respective divisions.

Would that satisfy the intent, or does that mean that everyone will now be switching to the Matra?

Thoughts?

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

it not that the can am cars were bad. we all have had a blast racing them and the racing was close. but they have a class already. it just we are all racers and want to put the fastest legal car on the track. thus the pge class  has become can am  dominated.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

"the pge class  has become can am  dominated"

In my experience there will always be something that becomes the dominant style car or chassis (like the Ninco Corvettes in Classic I). Chris' suggestion would change the dominant cars from Can Am cars to possibly something "else" (maybe the Matra?).

I like the idea of the Can Am car exclusion since there is another class they can be raced in.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

It would appear this dialog has ended, so I have updated the rules per the last comments submitted by the class sponsor Chris Kouba. His solution seemed to be the most logical in my opinion. If there is any disagreement, this is the place to voice your concerns.

The rules update for Class 15 - PGE is as follows: "Full-fendered sportscars from 1968 through 1980 which ran in FIA, IMSA, or SCCA sanctioned events, Can Am series cars are not eligible for this class."

"Can Am series cars are not eligible for this class." was added to the description.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Well he had 6 brave racers make out last night for the rumble In Al's man cave.  The racing was close as all ways. Track traction was gone in few spots last night. Found out after the race it was  Mitch  fault. He was flogged  accordingly.  Al's  son in law  showed up in time to get some racing in for the open class.just like riding a bike. He fell right into the groove. Well thanks once again for opening your doors and it good to see every thing was good health wise for Al. Now we have to wait three weeks before we can do it all over again.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Well, the Airbnb business is so good that the first free dates I have for racing at my overhauled track are all in October. I have the 13th through the 16th available if anybody is interested. Please let me know ASAP so I can block the calendar to ensure that we keep any of those dates open.

Thanks!

It is my luck that all but one of Dominic’s football games are on a Thursday so I will have to miss a race or three. I’m sure you’re all going to be disappointed.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Another odd Thursday night racing as come and gone.. we had 5 racers show up to do battle on the  course know as Rippin' Ridin' Raceway.. the battles on the track were close and the slightest mistake or touch cost you time on the track that once lost was hard to get back.  So with that said, it was who ever made the least amount mistake would come out on top to night..  1st class run was classic 1 and Al put in 3 clean heats with only a off to slow him down to take the win with Mitch taking a hard earn 2nd.
Up next was the always fast and close battles. hand down the number uno class people want to run... let hear it for Le Mans
these was the class to watch as the top three battle neck and neck for 9 min straight there was no quarter given as the drivers battle to pull out a lead on the other cars .  once again it was who ever made the least mistakes was going to take the win tonight.... drum roll please......... and the winner to night was Doc taking the win by two laps. with Al taking 2nd and Mitch just two tenth back. on the same lap.
up next was open and once again doc took the win with Al and Mitch 2nd and 3rd.
was good to see Gregg and Jeff back from his west coast tour. and thanks To Al for opening his doors so can be little boys again.. hope once the rain sets in we will start to see more racers show and join in the fun... till next time stay safe and do not eat the yellow snow...
