Stirling Moss, the archetypal British racer widely regarded as the greatest Formula One driver never to win the world championship, has died at the age of 90.

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

His was a name I knew even before I knew about motor racing. One of the three greatest drivers ever. RIP.
