Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

I started this project a few months ago. Thanks to Bill I was able to get this Mopar NASTRUCK. This is sitting on a new 2NASTE chassis. There was a problem with the decals. While in the sealed box since 2001 the tires were sitting on top of the decals, ruining a portion of them. That is why you do not see the Hot Wheels decals on the side. I also had to hand paint part of the number 43 on the passenger side, so I am not showing that side!! I had to make do with other decals I had. Looking forward to racing it at the upcoming race this month.

First picture is from the kit box. Second is what I started with. Third is the finished product.

When my good friend Bill finds time he will add pics.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

I've found the correct gears, axles, wheels, and a Proslot Motor for mine. It is currently sitting on the bench with the epoxy setting around the rear bushings. I had it together and running once but then as it sat on the shelf I started scavenging parts off of it for other projects.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Mitch, I have learned over the years not to "scavenge" parts, park it and leave it alone and it will pretty much be ready to go next time. I hope you will get it going before the race, the more the merrier.

Looking forward to the race and having a good time.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

I should have it running tomorrow.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

New project on my bench. I am building a car for the Flexi NASCAR class. This is an early JK chassis according to Bill that I pulled out of my chassis drawer. I think I raced it at Slot Car Central. I don't think it will do well in the races but I just wanted to bring it out of the moth balls for the hell of it. I bought a THIN Lexan body that is so flexible ( must be about .002" thick ) I have a hard time even holding it! Pictures will show up when my friend Bill puts them on here. The second picture is of my chassis drawer.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

That's why I like the team Blue Bodies (.0030") so much, when you pick it up it feels like you have something in your hand. But to compete rather than just participate you have to run what the other guys are running.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

At least with that pink motor I may be able to keep up with you!

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Mitch; I like the Bluegroove bodies a lot also. This will probably be the last "thin" body I will do................................I probably said that before.

Bill; I "may" just change the motor to a newer style, or maybe not!! I may just see how this one runs after being in the drawer for the last 20+ yrs!

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Look what you started Bill. A 1990 Pontiac project in progress. It is going to have the style of the car pictured.

Picture coming when Bill gets the time.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

That is going to be killer Bill!! Your car is already looking fast, looking forward to testing these out.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Still think you should race the brown truck.
So We all know why no racing today. Bill was in the Batcave playing Dr Frankenstein on a slot car or two...

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [to Igor] Now that brain that you gave me. Was it Hans Delbruck's?
Igor: [pause, then] No.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Ah! Very good. Would you mind telling me whose brain I DID put in?
Igor: Then you won't be angry?
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: I will NOT be angry.
Igor: Abby someone.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby someone. Abby who?
Igor: Abby... Normal.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby Normal?
Igor: I'm almost sure that was the name.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [chuckles, then] Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?
[grabs Igor and starts throttling him]
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Is that what you're telling me?

Repairing damage from a race at Springwater Raceway. 1st. picture is the damage, yes that is a hole!

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/howieemod.jpg

2nd picture is screen on the underside with Shoe Goo holding it in place.

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/howieemod2.jpg

3rd. picture is topside showing the screen.

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/howieemod3.jpg

4th. picture is the Glazing putty added.

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/howieemod4.jpg

5th. picture is the results, good enough for a slot car. This car has been in racing for many yrs. and to buy a new 3 window '36 Ford is expensive if you can find one! No matter what the damage I will repair as best as I can.

Bill will add photos when he gets time. Thanks Bill.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Very cool Howie!!!

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Thanks Bill. This repair looks good in the picture, but in person it is not that good looking of a body repair, but after all it is a slot car going into battle again.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

It'll be fine Howie,  we all know how real modefieds look in person.
You're just going to be a bit more authentic.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

New project: A Paser Trans Am. '70 Pontiac Firebird. From out of my old "chassis drawer" I found this chassis, I think it is a Slotting Plus SP800001. Perhaps Bill will add a picture of the very start of my project.
