Topic: HO Slot racing...................

Is there any one that would like to come to my place and run their tjet or afx cars?     No tomy cars as they would cause to much damage when they crash....I have a 4 lane indoor track that is 15" by 4"
This would be just for fun....tune up all your old cars...or we could have a crash and burn race...or if we get enough people we might be able to have a race....
Depending on how things go this might start in december or january as I am working on clearing out that room.

Im going to try and post some pics on here of my track.....lets see if this works....

Re: HO Slot racing...................

I'm for moving to a roving Thursday night.  We've got enough home tracks around that we could do something just for fun with some regularity.  Who's in?

Re: HO Slot racing...................

As always I have to fit my slot car activities around Kelly's work schedule and the kids activities but if the schedule is clear I will try to be there.  If the time and budget allow I want to try and get some type of permanent track up at my house.  More than likely running 1/32 scale either in Scaley Sport or a routed track if I get really ambitious.

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Great pictures Bryan!!!

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Hey Rico, If you have the room I'd help you route a 1/32 track. I've got some ideas, I'm just out of room!!!!  ----------------------Bill

Re: HO Slot racing...................

I might have to take you up on that someday!!!!

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Hi Bryan,
I've just found my old AFX Race Case and my cars appear to be in reasonably good shape (haven't touched them in over 30 years...). Some new pickups and tires and they should be driveable. Mostly Aurora G-Plus, AFX, and one Magna-Traction (I think). I'd be curious to see how they run if you guys are doing your Thursday night racing.

Also, is there a shop to buy parts around here, or should I order? Would I need my own controller? I'm pretty clueless, so I appreciate your patience (in advance)!

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Hey Rick WELCOME!
Hobby Town on SE 82 Ave (just south of Johnson Creek Blvd) has HO parts, as well as Tammy's Hobbies in Beaverton. Bryan's still looking for interested parties to get some racing in on his HO tracks. Hey Bryan...........

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Hey, thanks Bill. Bryan e-mailed me as well. I'll give Hobby Town a try today, as I'm headed out that way anyway.

They are not particularly dirty, but I read somewhere that "brake parts cleaner" can be sprayed on a G+Plus chassis to clean them? Then I pretty much just need new pickups and tires? Just wondering if this makes sense to you guys.

Bryan, I'll get back in touch and maybe we can set up a time to run some cars. Been a while...

Thanks again,
Rick

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Rick, I've never used "brake parts cleaner" and I don't know what chemicals are in it. When I clean motors or HO chassis I use WD40. It's also a good contact cleaner. I've "hosed down" HO cars with it and never had a problem. Same with 1/32 & 1/24 motors.

Re: HO Slot racing...................

I will try and get the track in the house cleaned off later this week....the one in the garage is a lost cause right now....it has about three feet uf stuff on it....

Re: HO Slot racing...................

Brake parts cleaner will clean AFX, G-plus chassis and I haven't noticed any ill effects other than sometimes there is a whitish residue that can be removed with ArmourAll or good substitute.  I use Q-tips for both chemicals for application.  A can of compressed air (like for computers) is great for blowing off excess.

Re: HO Slot racing...................

I cleaned my HO chassis with a little WD-40 to loosen up the built up grime, followed by a couple blasts of compressed air from a spray can (office duster). And I do it in the garage with the chassis sitting on some old rags to stay happily married. Don't try this inside the house, kids...;-)
