Topic: Cascade Road Course

Thought I would post a couple photos of my track.  But I can't figure out how to post a photo here.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Re: Cascade Road Course

Howdy Mike, here's what you do.  If you have an external location where you stick files, then you link to them like this using the [img]tags:

http://www.filsplace.com/myfilepath/myfile.jog

If you don't have a place to put the files. let me know and we'll fix you up.

Re: Cascade Road Course

Mike- You have to be able to have access to a website that you can host photo's.  I use Photobucket but there are others or you may have your own.  You set up an account and upload photo's to there from your computer.  Once you have them uploaded and saved there four choices that show up under your photo's.  Click on the one that says direct link, you may have to right click and copy but I think it copies automatically.  When you have this done then start a post here.  Add whatever text you want and then use the following formatting:
Type just like this   or if that makes more sense.  Basically, just take the url for the image and surround it with the tags  and the pictures magically appear.

Re: Cascade Road Course

Thanks guys!  Took me a bit, but I got it.

This track is in my garage, hung from the ceiling, as to go up and down.  When ready to race, probably take it to a little office trailer/guest house on our property for more room.

My long term plan is to add some scenery to mimic what a road course in the Oakridge area might look like.

It's not a digital track, just thought four cars might like better.

It's on a 4x8 sheet.  Probably like to keep it portable.  I read on the Ninco website its really not a beginners track.  I can understand why now.  For not having much experience with 1/32, I tend to go to slow, and fail to make some of the tighter curves.  But that is ok, as I will be adding some aprons, and I like the road course type feel.

As you can see, I have one track of snow.  I found the snow track curves to be way to tricky for beginners like myself.  I plan to add the snow curves back in, but I think I will roughen them up a bit with sandpaper, not much, but a little.

Re: Cascade Road Course

Is that the Master set?

Re: Cascade Road Course

It is Ninco's Master Track.

Re: Cascade Road Course

Well, fortunately I didn't make my track very permanent.  In using Tracker 2000, I found the track set up I have now has a few things I don't like about it, namely unequal lane lengths and differing amount of curves per lane.  With just a lap counter, I really want both lanes equal.  So I started to draw out a track similiar to a Kingsley track I had printed off the internet some time ago.  I modified it slightly to fit what I wanted, equal lanes, and fitting to 4'x8'.  Right now it's maybe a little simplistic and boring to the eye.  But I will try to add some features to the track to help it out.

I'll post some photos once I start putting it together.

(As a side note, we are going to our first race in Eugene this Friday!)

Re: Cascade Road Course

What's boring to the eye is not always boring to race on! We're looking forward to seeing more pictures!

Have fun in Eugene! Who you racin' with?

Re: Cascade Road Course

I'll keep that in mind Bill.  To me, on the computer screen anyway, the track layout looks too symmetrical.  But with it overlapping in spots, maybe the height difference will make it look better with the actual track.  I'll get photos soon as I rearrange the track.

The race I'm going to is at Heidelberg Raceway.  Really looking forward to it.

Re: Cascade Road Course

We have an upcoming NASTE race at Heidelberg on March 21. We will be holding an IROC race on each of Kimm's two  tracks, 1/24 and 1/32. Maybe if you're free you can come and race with us?  -------------------Bill

Re: Cascade Road Course

I'll note that on my calender, thanks for the info!

Re: Cascade Road Course

I rebuilt my track.  Not nearly as technical as before, but I have equal lanes now.  I did add some snow track.  Depending on how other racers feel about it, I may sandpaper the surface a little.

As a result of the revision, I have alot of curves left over.  I tried to add some chicanes, but the chicanes lengths didn't work out.  But I think this is good enough for now to get started.

And based on your guy's suggestions, I left the crossovers out.  I see your points of view.

Re: Cascade Road Course

I think it looks great and I bet you'll find you are able to get a way better rythm going with this set up.
