Re: Open House & Open Track - Saturday April 27th

Hello Y'all,

The open house for my shop and slot car track (Bob McFarland's track which was recently moved to my place) is NEXT Saturday April 27th!

Doors will be open at 9:00AM and will stay open until 11:00PM, or the last person decides to leave.

PM me if you need the address.

We will be serving hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. I am not sure of what the turn out will be, so if you would like to bring along a snack, drink, or side dish to share that would be awesome, but not required.

In addition, Bob Nakamura will be opening his new 8 lane 1/24 hill climb track in southeast Portland at 2:00PM. The track will be open for running and testing.

PM me if you need the address for Bob's new track.

Hope to see you all next Saturday!

Re: Open House & Open Track - Saturday April 27th

What an awesome day! We had over 40 people attend the open house and run some laps on the track. It was so nice to see everyone including some folks I hadn't seen for quite sometime. The last couple of weeks were quite hectic trying to get ready for this event, and those that had stopped by during that period seemed pretty shocked by the fact the track was ready to go (myself included)! But it did appear everyone was having a good time. I'd like to thank everyone that took the time to stop by, and thank those that brought food and snacks. A special thanks to Kirk Smith for building this track in the first place, and to Bob McFarland for allowing me to be the third caretaker of the track. And the BIGGEST THANKS to my fantastic wife Diane for helping me make this whole thing happen!

It took photos to get everyone included, some folks arrived after the photos were taken.

Thanks Bill that was fun wish i could of stayed longer. now we need to figure what what classes we need to set up. those scratch built econo cars were bullets for sure and that 1/24 Scaleauto car Chris had might be a good choice to go with for those that dont have the skill in building ....

For those of you that were unable to make it up to the shop when the craziness was going on, here's a photo of what the shop looked like the week before the open house!

I got to run some laps here a few weeks ago. What a cool track.

Bill, you have done a top notch job getting it going!

Thanks Zack. I am now finally at a point where I can start going through all the stuff I had to stash upstairs.

Hi Bill,  I found this Inslot raceway thread with all the pictures of potential racers. I am thinking of heading down to Oregon either tomorrow the 19th .... or Friday the 26th,  to make a race in Keizer on a Saturday in July.  I was wondering if there is a chance for Ted and I to stop by your track for a quick test of some new race cars? Maybe there are still too many packages laying on the track surface? Would stop by only if not inconvenient.

I have not decided (as yet) what Friday to head down that way .... and not even positive I will due to the distance. There's a part of me that wants to tho.

Re: Open House & Open Track - Saturday April 27th

Hi DC,

Sorry about the delayed response. Diane and I were away for a spur of the moment road trip and just got back this evening. I have the track cleared off and it is operational. Friday the 26th would probably work. Just give me a call if you want to stop by!   ======Bill

Re: Open House & Open Track - Saturday April 27th

Thanks Bill,   I am sure I will know by next Thursday for go or no go .... and I will let you (and Ted) know accordingly. We have some big wheel and small wheel Nascars ... and some Hawk7 powered CanAms to test. Also a late model Sportsman and Open 12 car that races down at Paul's. Don't want to burn them up .... just try a few laps to see how they like YOUR track. I know they like Howie's track.

Last summer I did nothing slot related and October really snuck up on me. This little Oregon trip will force me to prep some cars and get some momentum. To come down,  all my duck have to align.
