Al and I were talking about this last night after racing, so I thought I would post the link here. Most of the fast cars I have been building on out of Slot.it platforms has this technique employed on both the chassis and the motor pod.

Also make sure that after the motor is installed and tight the pod is not tweaked. I have had to do a lot of sanding on some pods to keep them perfectly flat after the motor is installed.

Link to the flattening process, Just copy and past you should get it!

Thanks for the report Bill!

Thanks Al for another fun night of racing!

This doesn't seem like a good system either, I guess if we are overly concerned with cheating, sandbagging, and rules. Then my idea for this race is already doomed.

I don't know who those people are, nor would it really matter to me. I would run my laps the best that I can, and hope others do the same. If not, well then that's just racing.

Alright guys, We have done some more talking about it. I am going to write a proposed set of rules and format. Once approved by us and Alan we will get it on the books.

This is not intended as a Us vs. Them competition. We are trying to get many other clubs involved to make it fun, and showcase what cars are popular in other clubs etc.

The hope is that if we get enough people together, we can rent the facility and run the race in one Sunday.

The format will be a TEAM race!

Every club will supply cars they race normally. In our case, I think prepared slot.it Lemans cars make the most sense. We will likely end up running BRM trans am, and whatever other clubs come in will also bring cars. Once the clubs are locked in we will post a list of the cars we intend to bring.

Format:

After some practice each driver will qualify with each car for a single 3 min heat. This shouldn't take too long as we can qualify six drivers at a time.

Your total laps in that time will be used to pair you off into teams. The fastest guy will be paired with the slowest, all the way down the list. You won't necessarily be paired with someone from another club.

The goal is to create close racing with multiple cars, and take the "rules" of the classes out of the equation.

After every driver has ran each car in each lane, the points will be totaled for the individual, and then the team. Fastest team wins!

I think this will be a ton of fun for everyone involved, and get some seat time with a bunch of fun cars on that track in a competitive format. We are planning on scheduling it out a ways so people can plan ahead, and hopefully get more involved. Feel free to post this anywhere you like!

Thanks,
Zack

Can't wait to do some racing on the wood track next time! Regardless I had fun putting some laps in and trading paint with Doc.

I think Pat will be in, as well as some of the local racers from friday nights. It sounds like they may choose to run Revo Slot cars, which they run bone stock. I raced mine just this weekend and was very competitive.

Also, teaming up based on averages should rule out any one car being the deciding factor.

Monte, I think the LMP class died up there specifically because of the kind of thing you are talking about. The whole race program now is basically box stock cars up there. We could easily tech the top three cars if we chose to run a "spec" format. Not hard to do.

I had a blast with trans am up there. Group c slot.it cars was my first thought.

My Matra is a rocket there!

Hey guys, I have been talking on and off with Bill and Alan for a while about putting together a race up there where the two clubs could run.

We are thinking about trying to put together a team race where we would bring cars of a certain class we run, and the racers there would supply cars from one of their classes.

We would then run some qualifiers and pair off in "equal" teams.

Each person would run a full race with each class of car, combined total for your team wins!

This seems like a good compromise since no one club runs the same type of cars. Some of the guys there have expressed interest in making it down to even up the score at some point.

So the questions are.....If we did it what type of cars from our club would you like to run?

I actually really enjoy the classic 2 cars up there on 13v, can am could also be cool, and are very quick on the big track.

2- How many of you are interested in a carpool trip to run some laps up there and making this race happen?

3- It will be up to the powers that be to figure out scheduling.

I for one think it would be a blast, and have the potential for 25 or so racers!

Thanks,
Zack

My dad always told me, racing is 90% preparation, 10% execution. For the most part I find the more hours I put in at home the better the cars do at the track.

Zack

Pretty cool to have so many properly fast guys to race with week after week though. Most series like this attendance is key, after that being fast helps a ton!

Interesting. The older cars have a slot.it style pod. The new ones under the c7 have a triangular style pod and a flex chassis. My vette is one of the best out of the box cars I have purchased.

There is one thing I have learned very well in my short time racing slot cars, on wood tracks I am not a Urethane fan...

I have many sets that i tried and immediately took back off. Even the brm and slot.it tires did better for me.

Plastic track they seem to be the bees knees unless you are doing silly tires.

Well guys, after last night I have ordered up a load of brass. I'm gonna attempt to put a chassis under my MRRC Ferrari before we run this class again. Wish me luck.

Just a bit of clarification here. Race supplements say slot.it 21.5k. My modern LMP Lola comes with a flat 6 20.5k. Is this legal or are we going for the orange/brown 130 cans only?

Thanks,
Zack

Great night of racing. Felt right having Rico back!

Thanks for the fun.

Zack

Home track advantage is definitely a thing, but I wouldn't put it past Monte to get right back up there!

Fun battle to watch!

Doc, check PM!

Zack

Pretty tight race up there at the pointy end!
