These Corvettes dominated the Classic class when they were new. Looks like this one will put them back on top! Nice car, Zack!

Dang, Rico, that's almost too pretty to race. Looking at the picture, it's hard to tell it's a lexan body.

Okay, I tend to get in trouble for my remarks here but I only respond to other's posts about rules and what's legal or fair. My two cents is that in every other class at Howie's the cars actually look like a scale size driver could climb in and out and actually fit in the car to drive it. I saw very few cars at the Can-Am race that a driver could fit into. Same goes for tire size. Until the Porsches came along, Can-Am cars ran the biggest tires out there to handle the huge power. The little tires on the front of some of the cars looked weird to me. Even the .9 inch tires for the rear only equate to a real tire less than 22 inches tall. That's a little tire for the rear of a race car from the era. No matter what the outcome on rules, I will do my best to stay out of the way of the fast cars.

Bill, that's like looking in the mirror for me. I started with a Marx 1/32 set and the next year got t-jets. I had a Cox 1/24 Chaparral that I only took to a commercial track one time. It came home badly damaged from trying to keep up with the faster cars of more experiences racers. When I hooked up with NASTE I found I could enjoy all scales of racing, but I still prefer t-jets. I really enjoy the Econo-cars as they act like big t-jets, so I go to those races. Slot car racing in this area seems to be growing right now, which is great. See ya at the races!

Big thanks to Zack for all the work he did on my car today. Thanks to Howie and Bill for supplying parts and shop time. I look forward to testing it out soon.

It was a great night with friends. I will go back to my normal funny but slow cars next year. I didn't notice the guy under Al's car either!

Zack, I have a couple you can check out. One is a difalco kit that was never finished. Both came from Craig Pryor's estate. He was one of the best racers and car builders around. I will send you a note on FB.

I think I have to wash my hair on those days!

Bill, we have been darn close and it has been fun. Bought a Nascar body, but doubt I have a chassis that will run with the big boys!

Thanks, Monte. I hope some of the new track owners pick a date so we can visit them!

If the image didn't come through, sorry. New to putting pictures on posts here. It is a large box. I can bring it to Al's next race.

For all you 1/32 racers out there, I picked up a collection of 1/24th scale cars and the guy had this box as well. It looks like a nice fit for 1/32nd cars. Nice box with only minor wear. Car shelves slide out and three wide drawers. Too big to ship anywhere so no eBay sales on it. $50

Monte, if you are going to quote me, let's look at yours as well.

"Ya know, my initial opinion was to not count the race since tire traction changed drastically."

You had already thrown out the one lane on your own decision and obviously thought about tossing the second race entirely. Instead you tossed the whole night out taking away Tracy's win in the first race. You're in charge of this series. You make the decisions. Don't blame me.

I'm dazed and confused. Monte was the one who complained about the race at Howie's. I just stated my opinion. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

Bill, I don't know about mixed messages. Like most people at the races, I try to do my best, but it does not bother me to lose, especially with groups like OSCAR and Howie's as they build their cars to win races. At the Thursday races, the best car is usually the winner. At the last race on your track Doc loaned me his Camaro. I set it on the track with no practice and won the race. It was not because I was the best driver, I just had the best car. I only comment here when people complain about fairness and trying to make the cars equal because the only fair race is the IROC series where everyone drives the same cars.

"You race and play with slot cars however you want but you should let other racers do the same."

That comment is off base as I do what I want to and let others do the same. Everyone has their choice to do what they want to in this life. I aim for having fun.

Bill, I did not say that others were not having fun and I did not single out the Thursday races as the place where people act childish. I see it at all venues and series. I enjoy racing and playing on all the tracks and all the series including Howie's races which I used to avoid because some of those guys are a little too serious about winning. In real racing the sanctioning bodies set rules to try and keep the competition equal and inspect cars to make sure they are following the rules. The only races where the cars are truly equal in slot car racing is the IROC format, but a lot of the local racers don't seem to like it. IROC is "serious" and real competition because the best driver will emerge when all the cars are equal. As for just playing, I hosted an open track day and everyone had a good time. There were no true races but there was a lot of nerfing and laughter.
