Thanks a bunch indeed, and the site moves MUCH more quickly!

Bill,

Thanks for yet another awesome night of racing!  I happened to come out near or at the top of all the races but holy cow what a night of close heats.  I had two heats next to the Flying Goose where we went pretty much wheel to wheel for lap after lap.  Super close racing with great competitors, what a combination!  Thanks for playing host.

And then, to John Morse, THANKS for one of the coolest presents ever!  John built me a Mk II GT40 in with an official Kouba livery on it.  It looks AWESOME!!!!!  See for yourself:

THANKS JOHN!!!!!

Looking this good, I thanked John for such a gorgeous body, then mounted it on my chassis and promised to beat the crap out of it.  I went out, crashed it a little bit to chip the spoiler for character, and won its very first race for the Over 50 class as well.  What a ride!  Will be hard to top next Odd Thurs.

Thanks again Bill and thanks a LOT John!

No worries.  I didn't end up going either.  Sounded like no local (Tacoma) interest either due to holiday weekend.

Anyone interested in heading to Tacoma for some track time?  Door open at 10, racing starts at noon.  Let me know...

It kinda looks like all Bill does is complain.  Anyone else notice that?

Interested as well.  Will check my calendar and let's chat at the next Odd Thurs.

Bill,

Thanks to you and everyone who showed up for another evening of awesome racing!  It was extremely competitive yet still casual and enjoyable- specifically going side by side with Goose in back-to-back Over 50 heats.  You've done a fine job striking a balance for Odd Thursdays, and it seemed like everyone else was having just as good a time as I was.  I know I've missed a number of racing evenings lately but it was one of the best nights of racing I've had in quite some time.

THANKS!!!

Chris

I can stand by Monte with the same promise- you will absolutely probably have a great time and witness some fantastic competition.  They released their first modern GT car last year with the McLaren F1 and had that as the ride for the 24h.  This is the "details thread" on SCI from that 24h, in Nov 2014, and this is the "after" thread.

THIS is the thread for the recent Scaleauto 12h.  The "after" coverage (not much currently though) begins on Page 6 of the thread.

The event for this November will be BRM cars, but this time their classics line: 917 and 512's, head to head for 24h.  The 917 has been out for a while but the 512 was just released last month.  We should have plenty of time to shake both of them down and prep one.  There will likely be events during the week leading up to the 24 over the weekend, so keep your calendar clear Nov 10-15.

Great people, great cars, great track, great facilities, fantastic event... get in on it- become part of the Oregon Donors!

Chris

Thanks everyone, and especially Bill, for a fun night that I finally got to attend.  I miss the motley crew and swapping paint.  It looks as thought I will be making 2 in a row(!!!!) and will see everyone again next week, but we will see.  It was great to grab a car I hadn't had much time with and do so well in GT, and it's great to see how tight the competition is when looking at lap counts at the end of the night.  Lots of close battles!

Good times and looking forward to the next one.

Or do we just keep racing all the different types of F1 cars together and I group them in finish order overall and by class? blah, blah, blah...  =========Bill

That option gets my vote.  I like the variety of classes we run, no need to OD on F1.  Run'em all.

Not a 24h race... but a 12h on Sat plus support races on Fri:

Anyone interested?  I am planning on attending.  Have an extra car or two as well, so don't let that stop you.

I found a new GT!!

Unassembled, everything there...  Looked good on that auction site.  Can't wait to get my hands on it.

And yes, unassembled means there's no patina to destroy if I want to paint it.  Time to dig out the white and red Monte!

I hope to have it out for the next time I get to Odd Thurs.

Thanks to Rico for pointing me in this direction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/301571423127

Currently the lead bidder with a day and a half to go.  I still feel like a dork for ruining my first one, this one is rougher, cracked and in need of a bit of restoration.  Here's to hoping it stays cheap-ish.

Thanks Rico!

It will likely become a weird looking version of a roadster but not sure how it will proceed.  Way too much time and effort for that to top my list for a while.  I need to finish the basement and get a track in there before embarking on an endeavor like that.  In the meantime I have gone back to trolling the internet for another.

Any reasonable leads would be appreciated.  Just need a half decent body, happy to fix cracks...  Just can't do wavy roofs.

i destroyed my GT's body

i used a lamp to help warm some epoxy i was repairing windshield surround with and the a-pillars and roof went from flat to potato chip in 2.4 seconds.

i am crushed to have destroyed something which had survived SO many years.

i was also excited to be putting my livery on it as well... i had stripped all the other glass pieces off successfully and had sanded it all down.  it was literally just a few hours from getting Monte's favorite paint job.

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGHHHH!!!

help me find another one please!

Bill (and all who made it out),

Thanks for a great day.  It was a great start at fixing my "fix" and hanging out with the gang.  I had lots of fun swapping paint and pulling the trigger.  Looks like I still have work to do on a few of my cars to get to the sharp end but it's still a great time running them.

Thanks again for hosting and I look forward to the next one.

Chris

Mr. Morse,

That looks gorgeous!  Well, they all do actually, but I am a Ford GT fan.  It looks awesome.

Hope to see it on the Odd Thurs Saturday coming up.

Oh, don't kid yourself- I bid on it.  I was outbid as I didn't bid aggressively, but I did bid.

We don't have a class for something like that though, so I let it go.  For now...

Just looked it up, that's a $50 chassis kit from ProTrack...  I am tempted...

THen there's this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/161611462745?_t … EBIDX%3AIT

Currently at $18 (+$11 for shipping).  Not a favorite body style but that's easily swapped.  You probably can't buy wheels/tires & motor for $18.

"Big Data" was my mash-up of Monte's Big Smooth and a play on the data-rich thread developing elsewhere.  I didn't expect it to stick as a new nickname but thought it was appropriate.  It was my oh-so-subtle attempt at humor which clearly missed the mark.

I didn't know he has a spectral assortment of 1/24th Carrera's already.

I know I wrote 1960-1971 but would certainly not rule out earlier.  Just want to keep it in the vintage era with car which are contemporaries running against each other.

To which are you referring Big Data?

I have a Carrera or three already...

I don't know...  All I see in that so-called "data" Monte showed is that Bill can't win a race.  Even at his own track.

(Come on, you know you were ALL thinking it!)
