Hi from Salem,
The track is looking very cool and while still new to the hobby, is this possibly the longest build ever???
If the bondo repairs are what's hanging it up - I have an idea for a heat chamber that might help - lol
Anyway wanted say hi and looking forward to running on this beast. Are you still saying November for completion?
All the best,
Jack

Whatever you suggest - being a workday for most would the 5 or 6 to open and 6 or 7pm to start work??

The last BSCC race is June 7th - so how about the following Tuesday the 14th.
I'm thinking of a Trans-Am nite with a pair of Pioneer Mustangs.
Hows that sound?

OK boys lets let sleeping,,,, Uh melted car bodies lay.

I still think "the paint booth"/"Clean room dryer" is a workable idea, but lack of experience resulted in disastrous execution.

However, I learn some real good from an old fashioned FUBAR.

So I'm planning on a bigger cooler and filtered forced air venting --oooooooh,,,aaaaaaaaaah.

Bill,
I think you were suggesting a Wed time for a race nite, I'd like to request Tues if I could?
My days off are Tues/Wed & having the next day to sleep in a bit would be killer.

Also what's best / easiest way do some spot removal of tampos & decals etc. off a body, while still leaving some decals and the paint finish??

Or can you decal over those markings?

Thanks again,
Jack

Bill,
Well why don't you let me know what month were talking about and I'll check my end for a date.
Also on another front, I have a couple of built models I want to convert to slot cars. So the inerds need to removed and I'd like to do some fender flares on them. I was hoping you might have some time to help me get -R-done!
What do you say?
Thanks again,
Jack

Hi Bill,
It was very cool to see you out racing at Randy's the other nite, I've missed racing with you for too long!!!
Also I was wondering if any date has been set for a NASTE race at RPT?? I thought the last race was going to be held here or that another date was going to be added.
I'm just trying to plan ahead and have it all ready --- the track is one thing but you guys eat alot of food, the last  BBQ hit my wallet good - lol.
Anyway thanks & lmk,
Jack

Hi Randy & All,
Well lets see, this feels like some of the earlier series & with the 5 sided box the only thing I'm not reading is this is a return to mag racing.
Mag but the basic set-up only allows for 1 stock mag in the 1st spot front of the motor and apparently S2 and/or P6 slot it tires.

I think I overheard that no tuning in added weight was going to be allowed. If that is right, I think it is a big mistake!
Tuning the cars, seeing what the other guys have done has been major fun & truly helped me across the board.
I know once that mag lets go - then the balance of the car is going to keep in the slot & under control!

While I have some of the cars mentioned, even I had to shell out $ for another or different model, I'd rather have my own car or cars ( backup).
I'm ok with running just the Porsches,,,,,,,,,,,BUT the full group c idea gives a greater visuall field and you get chance to see & learn about a model you may not be familiar with. A+++++ for me on more then one front!

Then no mention of HRS bodied cars --- I'm in favor!!!! - Lets call that Jack's #6 suggestion!!!!!

Ok where am I, hmm oh yea #4 NSR awesome cars - wish they were cheaper - enough said.
And to complete this pentagram, at the last race I brought it up - "I am what I am" so give me some AM --- Can Am & Trans Am.

We have the Rev/Mono Lola T70 and Mclaren M6 - Carrera's Mclaren M20 & Porsche 917/30.
The Fly 917/10, 908, 917  & others, some were racing now - so a transition would be easier for some.

Then all the Scaley camaro & mustangs, the newer Pioneer mustangs, a re-built (slot it HRS2) Revell Cougar & Firebird & other TA cars.

A series like that would great fun, the sight of the field would be super cool and with more choices in the make - model & tuning you get a chance to see & learn about a much greater variety of cars. --- COUNT ME IN!!

Anyone else?

Regards,
Jack Attack

And from Greg P;

Hmmmm.... a BYO series (Build Your Own) series? I  LIKE that! We're practically doing that now.

The Pioneer TRANS AM IROC series would give the run cars to the 1st 6 winning drivers (If we get 6 from Pioneer). OTOH, if we vote for a BYO race we ALL get a car at the end of the series.

True, NSR Cars are pricey (~$100 per copy). The rumor is that they don't need much tuning or extraneous parts to make them run better. In the long haul this might be cheaper.

I'm a fan of no mag... but if the series calls for allowing it I'll race one. I gotta tell you though once the racing is done there won't be a whole lot of car left. I would go for a Group C Slotit race... but I won't be up for buying a 962 to race it. I'm no Porsche fan. Getting a given car to race in a series smacks of "we don't care what the car is or looks like just so long as it's fast..." which drove me out of slot racing the first time around. Besides a Group C race is more true to period racing of the time...

That's not a leak... My car's just marking its territory...

Hello Bill,
Hope this email finds you & yours well?

All the best,
Jack

Hello
Wanted to thank all who came out for your patience waiting for the chow.
I had to wait for my resident Grill - Master ( my son Sean) to cook for you all, cause if I had done it, the FDA might have shut us down - LOL.
Again thanks to all for coming out and the goodies you brought along to pitch in.

I think the big fun of setting up a track is the opportunities to have friends over.
To all those who could not make it - and I called as many numbers as I could get.
You all owe me $$ for buying too much food - LOL.

Well now Milwaukie is A SLOT CAR MECCA, with the Hills at Rico's and my modest 50 + feet all within blocks of each other. You better give a call, mark your day-planners and get over for some track time!

Regards,
Jack

Hi all,
What time - GOOD QUESTION???
Well we need to finish moving the hills - should get started around 10am and hope to be done by 2 or 3pm??? Baring any unforeseen problems ( Murphys Law).
So lets say 4pm - But the best bet is to give me a call around 3pm to check.

ALSO PLEASE CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW YOU ARE COMING!!

P.S. Remember to bring yourself a chair - your favorite controller & some cars.
And if you could bring some goodies for the pot-luck, that would help bunches!!

Thanks again,
Jack

I know its short notice - sorry I couldn't avoid it.
But some of us are helping Rico move the Hills to his place Saturday morning.
I've just finished getting my track set-up and wanted to invite any & all over for a bit pot-luck style BBQ and open track/racing.

Now here is the deal I have a little over 53 feet of 2 lane Revel track, I have a BBQ, I have some corn on the cob, hamburger and hot dogs - could pick up some more if needed.

BUT YOU MUST BRING A CHAIR - folding, camp style whatever - I don't have but 2 chairs.
Also if you could bring some soda, Potato salad, green salad, chips, drinks - something it would help!!

And bring your favorite controller  - I do have a couple - but you'll probably want yours anyway, and bring some cars to run.

Ok I think that is about it ----- PLEASE CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW YOU"LL BE COMING!!!!

Thanks,
Jack

Monte - Bill  - Randy,
Thanks to all for the info,
Monte - would you have that diagram in a higher resolution tiff or pdf you could email me?
Bill thanks tons for the photos - it really looks like you put more weight in the front then the rear?
Why would you do that?
Randy thanks for your answers.
Regards,
Jack

After reading through all this - my brain hurts as well!
From a total novice I'll acknowledge that race organization, structure and points isn't something I have a strong hold on.
So I'll just list some observations & thoughts about the Team race.

A team should be able to put it's strongest force on the track ie: the best car.

Bonds are formed over time - not usually in 1 race.

Team members should have equal track time.

Fueling, driver switch and lane change times should be adjusted if traffic is making it difficult for all to make it.

Something in the way of a building tips handout for these mag-less cars and or website post with photos, materials, placement and techniques would be great!
Even if every car on the track was competitive with each other - the fast racers are the fast racers.

I don't know if this matters or not to anyone else - however one thing that puzzles me with this series of races if I understand it correctly?
Is the switch from a team race to an individual race, somehow that doesn't seem right. If a goal of this to help develop new & better racers, then a team of experienced, knowledgeable racers who can coach & train others in car development and race techniques seems right.

Well that's about  it for now, thanks for the voice.
Regards,
Jack

I'd like to do this as well, But as you know Monte, I need to build a car 1st.
Still trying to figure out how to make the bottom half of the Vanwall or Maserati body?
Thanks,
Jack

I guess I caught the post George listed in an earlier post to late to get an order in with him to lower shipping.

The Ebay list is;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … amp;ih=024

I'll wait a couple of days - but you'll get my attention much quicker by emailing me at;
007jag@comcast.net
Thanks,
Jack

ok this has been up for awhile now --- no one else has any input??
If nothing more by next Wed, I'll pass on this list to Randy.
Jack

Thanks Bill for your input - I know that takes some time to write out.
If we can get enough guys to show some interest then they'll stock the parts.
Or as was once said - "If you build it they will come" - LOL
Come on guys - tap the keys!!
Jack

Hello Everyone,
As far as I know the only local hobby store that stocks any Slot it parts is Bridgetown hobbies.
However I know the Hobby-town shop in Wilsonville stocks a little but they are a bit far away.
I've spoken with Randy at the SE 82 & Johnson Creek Hobby-town store and he is willing to stock parts that guys will buy.

What he wants is part #'s

So that's the layout - think it over write up a list with part # and I'll get it to him.
Then we will all have at least 1 more local place to get parts.

The nice thing with this is you can usually get it for retail with no shipping, and it helps support the local store.

Thanks for your input,
Jack
